The Singapore NDP - Why The Hell Would You Do That?

Angry AngMo said:

Obviously I am not Singaporean, which means I am not able to share heartwarming and patriotic moments with you, like singing the National anthem with 25.000 other people, or feeling overwhelming joy about the free “Funpacks”.

Instead I can show you how a foreigner sees and feels about these 2 hours filled with interesting but weird elements, that got me and my buddy asking more then once “Why the hell would you do that!?”

Recommended by Anonymous Coward: "Angry foreigner criticizes the NDP... at his peril."

NP Mobbers@Orchard

Jeremy Toh said:

NP Mobbers@Orchard is an initiative by Ngee Ann Polytechnic to bring the arts to the public. This initiative provides our enthusiastic youths a platform to express themselves. While our youths may not be the best in what they do, they are certainly the most passionate. For more of these highly-charged performances, catch us at our open house from the 17th to the 19th of January 2008.

A story of an old Angsana tree

Daniel Chin said:

Since antiquity, there is an old Angsana tree in Singapore. It is a valuable tree. So valuable that it has earned itself immunity: it was ruled that the tree is not to be chopped down if it is in the way of construction; instead it will be moved and transplanted under the guidelines issued by the authority overseeing trees. However, things took a twist of turns a few years back.

Recommended by Anonymous Coward: "A simple road diversion which tossed out the epitome of political bureaucracy. "

NParks launches two blogs

Rambling Librarian said:

I went over to NPark's website and noticed that they've launched two blogs (listed as "Gardening Blogs"). One's called Garden Voices and the other's called Young Gardeners.

Recommended by ramblinglibrarian: "I don't mean to plug my own post, just that NParks has two blogs but no one single blog post to do a referral, heh. So since I've already written about them... "

MOM’s Report on Wages in Singapore, 2005

Big fat zeroes said:

This is an extremely interesting report from the MOM. If you’re interested in how much the grad from NUS EEE earns on average or how much a bellboy earns or what is the average differential in earnings between males and females for the same position, this report will shed some light.

Recommended by Anonymous Coward: "Some facts to back up what you've always felt (guys are paid more on average)"
