Free Culture and Creative Commons show in Singapore!

activefreemedia said:

Leading up the Asian premiere of my Free Culture show on Monday Feb 6 at 7:15 at INSEAD's Singapore campus (free of charge), I wanted to take stock of the evolution of the movement for free culture.

Recommended by shianux: "This is rather late, but I hope people will turn up to watch and support. This is the first time a program that promotes the Creative Commons is showing in Singapore. Monday (Today) Feb 6, 7.15pm at the INSEAD Auditorium."

Domestic Tourism Day!

Ampulets said ...

J and I have lived in the Toa Payoh-Bishan-Bendemeer area all of our lives. And even when our families moved, they stayed within this kampong, unable to imagine life any further north, south, east or west. And since J and I don't own a car, we seldom wander to other kampongs unless... ...it's Domestic Tourism Day!

Of course! With the horde queuing up, island-wide, for FREEEEEEE drinks for Starbucks’ Open House, how could they not lose their bucks? It’s prime-time for coffee drinkers, you know?

Blogger listed on Martyn See's phone called up by police over Singapore Rebel

Singapore Rebel said:

The police has intesified investigations against me by calling up blogger Jacob George whose number is listed on my mobile. The walls are closing in. Not only am I unable to speak freely on my own phone, the police is now closing in on individuals who are totally unconnected with the making of 'Singapore Rebel.'

Depressed, Martyn See

Free Software Foundation Day

Divya said:

Anyways, seems like the Software Freedom Day was a riot! We had a tux that was dawdling among kids, screechy delirious teenages, respectful grandmothers and grandfathers.

Deepak S and Deepak J were volunteering by evangelising Ubuntu, the new mac OS of the Free Software World, and distributing free copies of the same.

Recommended by divya: "There seems to be very little publicity for Free/Open Source software here and nobody seemed to have blogged about the celebration of the Software Freedom Day!

Homegrown

"Release" (35mb AVI) is a short film showcasing some neat freeriding/trials/urban assult in very familiar places. It's proof that you can still do some fancy stuff in the flatlands of Singapore. This is a grober collaboration ah. We got canadian film crew and international cast of riders somemore.

Release-Movie.jpg

director sphinx on filming at Plaza Singapure: It was a rail gap. And we worked so hard for that shot with security and me flying back in a few days and everything. Wow. Risqué

The forum discussion for this video can be found here. This is the second video from the gang, last year's release 'After Hours' can be found here.

Singapore, India to seal trade pact in a month

IndiaDaily reported:

Singapore and India will wrap up talks on an enlarged free-trade pact within a month, Singapore's Prime Minister was quoted as saying on Monday, after a sharp increase of trade and investment flows in the past year.

[jseng: not sure if it is reported in ST but can't link it anyway so bopian, link to IndiaDaily instead.]

[caleb: I don't even remember what the ST look like anymore. It's made itself irrelevant]
