Sale of surplus T-shirts

For all those of you who either forgot or didn't have a chance to buy our T-shirts, we have a small surplus of T-shirts from Bloggers.SG. To wit:

1 S
1 M
7 L
2 XL

All gone, sorry.

They are still on sale for the low, low price of S$10. Local meetups may be arranged at our discretion. Foreign orders are accepted too, with the requisite postage fee (no handling!) tacked on.

For those who have not glimpsed the design can view an older version here (apart from one or two colour changes and spelling 'orh' correctly, it's the same as the final design).

Please email your orders to gabrielseah@hotmail.com. T-shirts will be sold on a first come first served basis.

Bloggers.SG 2005: Road Closure

For those of you planning to drive to the event, please take note that due to the National Day Parade preparations, there will be road closures in the city area.

One of our volunteers has kindly provided us with a very expert looking diagram of the road closure (thanks K!) The thumbnail is not very clear, so you may want to download the PDF file for a better look, or view it in its full splendor.

roadclosure.JPG

It seems as though Esplanade's carpark is still in operation that day, however you may choose to park at nearby lots in Marina Square or Raffles Place in case the one at Esplanade is closed.

If you want to avoid the hassle of mapping out your journey in exquisite detail lest you get stuck behind an interminable tank column, we suggest that you just take the MRT to City Hall and walk to the Esplanade via Citylink.

See you there!

Bloggers.sg Legal Panel

The "Blogging and the law" panel at Bloggers.sg will feature 2 panellists: Daniel Koh from Rajah and Tann; and Tan Min-Liang from Tan & Tan Partnership. We are very glad that two of Singapore's leading lawyers in the IT arena have agreed to speak at Bloggers.sg, and we do hope you'll come with questions on the law as it relates to blogging. Here's some background on both:

Daniel Koh is a partner in the firm of Rajah & Tann. Daniel is also the editor of The Law and Practice of Injunctions in Singapore, published by Sweet & Maxwell Asia and has also co-authored the chapters on Intellectual Property, Defamation and Employment Disputes. He has a broad based practice and a large part of his work includes claims for corporate fraud, breach of contract claims and resolution of commercial disputes. Daniel was also the lead counsel in the first reported case in the Singapore High Court, TJ Systems and others v. Ngow Kheong Shen in the year 2003, where he successfully represented the plaintiff in a defamation claim against a defendant who wrote a defamatory internal e-mail. Daniel was also among the first to have represented a plaintiff in obtaining a Court Order against an internet service provider in 1997, compelling the disclosure of the identity of a user who had committed copyright infringement over the internet.

Tan Min-Liang is a technology lawyer with the boutique IT/IP firm of Tan & Tan Partnership, and is also the external Asia-Pacific General Counsel to the one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world. He advises clients on contentious and non-contentious matters relating to technology law, including Internet, hardware and software issues, as well as intellectual property rights, entertainment, computer gaming, new media and telecommunications regulatory issues. He has chaired, made keynote speeches and sat on expert panels at conferences and international seminars, and has spoken at length on the technology law issues such as IT contractual issues, IP rights issues, legislative and regulatory issues, etc. He is also the technology law columnist for one of Singapore's leading newspapers and has written articles in legal, technology and telecommunications publications and books highlighting the interplay between technology and the law. Min-Liang is currently the Chair of the Singapore Chapter of the Creative Commons and the honorary legal advisor to the Singapore Sailing Federation.

The “Clip Agagooga’s Rebonded Hair” meme

Agagooga's No. 1 Fan (She with formerly rebonded and dyed mid-back length hair which is now dyed black and soft straightened, is fond of black dominatrix-style pumps, and has a serious attitude problem, yet who disavows the title of ah lian) via Agagooga said:

Girls! Bring your biggest, brightest, most kawaii clips to Bloggers.SG 2005 on Saturday, and pin them on Gabriel, the only Editor on Tomorrow.sg with rebonded hair!

Guys! Bring your sister/girlfriend’s ugliest clips to poke into Gabriel’s eyes hair! (also a good chance to get rid of those ugly clips – “No dear, I don’t know where the ugly sweet Piyo Piyo clip is…”)

Everyone can have a bit of fun with Gabriel’s Rebonded Hair, so remember to bring your clips along! =D

I know this is very last minute, seeing as how Bloggers.sg will take place in 2 days' time, but heck, it's worth the try!

Bloggers.SG 2005 - Frequently Asked Questions

As visitors to Tomorrow.sg know, Bloggers.SG, the first Singaporean bloggers' conference, will be held this Saturday, 16 July, 2pm, at DXO (it's a club near the Esplanade - some of you might know it as the former Embassy club). (If you haven't heard about it, here's the latest announcement.)

Here are answers to some questions we've been asked:

Bloggers.SG Banner For Your Blog

Yuhui said

In anticipation of Bloggers.sg, I created a simple banner 468x60 ad for the event. It's an animated GIF (15 sec, unlimited animation) based on the T-shirt design. It can be seen on my blog at http://yuhuibc.blogspot.com.

I'm not sure if you guys have created any banner ads, but I thought
that this would be a simple and cheap (free!) way to generate some
publicity. If you have your own ads, then of course we should use
them.

If not and you think that this is a good idea, please feel free to inform other bloggers about it.

HTML code provided below:

BlogDay 2005?

mungyology quotes Nir Ofir:

Have you ever noticed that the date 3108 (August 31st) looks like the word "Blog"? I have noticed it when I was in the first Blog conference that was held in Israel and I doodled it on a paper. On that day I started to roll an idea that I hope would become a global tradition.

Food blogger gathering

Joone over at Nibble & scribble is trying to organise a gathering of Singaporean food bloggers:

Chubby hubby, Gwenda and myself are trying to organize a little get together over a lunch where we can eat like pigs without apologies for our greediness or for any form of bad table manners. The details at the moment are tentative as we are currently trying to look for a location and to fix a date.

Finding Bubblemunche

Remember Bubblemunche, also known as Eddy Neo, who left us and the blogosphere awhile back then? Well, Finicky Feline and Scarlett Ting had the honour of meeting him for dinner at a not-so-classified location...

We were informed soup of the day was 'lamb chop'.

I was grossly disappointed when clam chowder was served instead.

We had an animated dinner, filled with explicit detailed insights to post-Eddy Neo days, and we even thought of filling 'Scarlett, Bubblemunche, Finicky Feline' on the feedback form.

Read on~!

Blogger.sg ver 0.2 beta (Mambo edition)

Mandrake recalled...

Another impromptu blogger’s night out with a bigger than expected turn out. The whole idea was for us who haven’t gone down to Mambo for a long time to just sit there and laugh at people dancing in a funny manner. I think unless its Mambo night, no one in their right mind would dance literally to the song lyrics.

Singapore Indian Bloggers Meet

Sambhar Mafia reports on the first ever Singapore Indian (Indian citizens living in Singapore) bloggers meet.

It wasn’t supposed to be such a big meet….. but it finally turned out to be one. The Singapore Indian Bloggers’ Meet finally happened today. If numbers are any indication, it was a grand success. We had 17 bloggers and 3 non-bloggers attending the event. Frankly speaking, I was expecting a turnout of about 10 bloggers.

Bloggers.SG 2005 - Date and Venue

With all the excitement about upcoming Bloggers Convention, it's time we reveal where and when it's going to be!

Name: Bloggers.SG
The result of the name poll is out and looks like 'Bloggers.SG' wins by a slight margin. So 'Bloggers.SG' it shall be.

Date: 16 July 2005
It's on a Saturday, so more of you can make it!

Venue: Woodlands Regional Library
It's a little bit ulu, but they've got a nice auditorium there, and the nice people at National Library Board (NLB) are willing to support us by lending us the location without cost.

SHINE (some gahmen initiative) is also supporting us (that's because they have $$$ for refreshments), so the event is also listed on their website.

Keep checking here for more details later!

Help a Blogger Find Love

Tripleperiod wants a girlfriend. All cute interested ladies may apply.

Now, instead of sianing blogger chicks. I realise a more positive pro-active goal would be, to make blogger chicks or blog-ders give signals so that blogger chicks or blog-ders will sian me... Any eligible and cute chicks out there, who would love and appreciate a SNAG as a Gummi Bear to cuddle with? Entry is open right now.

3 Easy Ways Not To Get Sued Becos Of Your Blog

BoredSlacker shared with us 3 easy ways not to get sued because of your blog.

Therefore, the Xiaxue doctrine: Only write about people whom you know do not have the time, money or energy to sue you for what you've written.

So following the Xiaxue Doctrine, you must make sure your blog doesn't criticise:

1) The Lee clan, including Lee Kuan Yew and Lee Hsien Loong. [Don't make fun of LKY's wife either. Don't forget she was also trained as a lawyer]

Why Singapore Bloggers Cannot Be President

NTD4PREZ has the answers.

Excerpts:

Mr Brown : Too busy keeping the blogging universe together. Plus must go jogging. Plus, NTD-fan thinks he’s secretly training his two kids to be Jedi masters.

Mr Miyagi : Too busy holding his private erectio election with his harem of chio-bu’s. Plus, the Istana probably doesn’t have enough walls to hang all their pictures.

Xiaxue: Will want to paint the the Istana gates pink, and fill the lawn with lorises, and build a DJ console .

Kennysia on Singapore Blogger Convention

Kennysia, our funnyman from Kuching, Malaysia has decided to come out with yet another one of his hilarious posts and this time the topic is the Singapore Blogger’s Convention. He ponders on how Tomorrow.sg got its name, suggests the itenary for the convention and puts mb and xx in a cage. (copied from cowboycaleb since my england bery bad!)

blogger-convention-joke.jpg

So naturally, the next mystery is WHERE is this convention thing gonna be held? Singapore Expo? At the Singapore Esplanade? Well, you wish.

Seeing as how bloggers live in a world where friends and strangers alike look at them everyday, it is only appropriate that the first ever bloggers convention be held at the Singapore Zoo.

Enter the Superblogs

Kevin said

What do Superblogs (like Boingboing, Huffington Post, or Tomorrow.sg) mean for the rest of us bloggers?

I see two immediate positive effects:
1) to popularize blogging to the masses
2) to highlight salient news & opinions

I also see two possibly weaker negative effects:
1) to polarize the blogosphere where the popular get more popular, the lesser known get even lesser known; works like in-groups or cliches
2) agenda setting through editorial gatekeeping
