Muddy Singapore swallows China workers

Yawning Bread said:

This story started with an abusive employer, but what got me interested was the role played by the government departments. From this, you can see that they were not at all interested in helping workers. Mediation became story-telling in the hope of discouraging the workers from pressing their claims. No mention is made of the company being prosecuted for violating our Employment Act. The police held people for overstaying without a shred of evidence that they were overstayers. The ICA held people in an armlock, getting them to fund their own flight home, with or without being paid their wages. They all just want to get rid of the problem, with no regard for justice, law or rights.

So I hear that the company involved is a Chinese-owned company registered in Singapore. Yawing toast should hum tum the chinese company bosses instead of his own country Singapore.

Ya, it is skewed because Yawning watever's target is the government of Singapore. The rest of the details do not matter to him.

To Anon
Just realized something you have no ideas that there are a lot of illegal workers/ over stayers in Singapore, now do you?
If you really read the article you would had realized that it is focusing on a specific organ of a complacent government that have been criminally negligent of the welfare of Singapore's workforce both local and foreign(migrant labour).(ie the Unemployment rates includes both Citizens and PR "status which are given out like toilet paper")
Come to think of it, Singapore did have a puppet Union here.Which is running a hugely successful business(ie suffocating all the old shops around it) that love to employ cheap labors too.And yes ,branching into almost every Single profitable business that should had been conducted by the citizens and private enterprises.
As for ICA? they still haven't found what they are looking for.... a very long time now.
Yet while showing such superb efficiency in rounding up unpaid workers, Personnel(aka black sheeps) have been allowing illegal Street walkers to prowl the street that lead to the spike in the health hazards.
Now isn't that more newsworthy?
Unfortunately everyone know these facts will only see the light of Main Stream Media after Approval by whoever whatever "get out of my uncaring face" Elite(quote courtesy of a certain Miss enjoying exclusive and tertiary educations paid by the people who she does not cared for).

It's clear from Yawning Bread's post that the ICA and Ministry of Manpower are complicit in this matter, aiding and abetting Xuyi Building Engineering Co. This is a little strange. While it is true that ICA and MoM are pro-business, like everything tied to the PAP government, they don't normally bend the rules so much. Not unless some high-level big wig in the PAP extended family cartel is involved in this company. If somebody can dig out the list of Singaporeans with a major stake in Xuyi, we will be able to verify this.
