The dangers of blind faith: Is City Harvest Church encouraging fraud?

e-hung said:

Does the CHC approve of Hinn's transgressions? Indeed, the manner in which Hinn conducts his "sermons" are very similar - if not identical - to the way CHC conducts its own. Is it deliberately supporting him in committing them?

These are legitimate and important questions that an objective person would ask, based on the facts gathered so far. But when I posted them up on the wall on the event's Facebook page, the post was swiftly deleted. It may be just one small action, but the very act of censorship speaks volumes. Is there no room for questioning in the church, only obedience?

Dear Dr Lee Siew Peng,

I am very much intrigue by your post but there are certain issues that I wish to have more insights from you.

Do you mean that a good 'megachurch' should encourage it's members to break away from the 'megachurch' so as to be able to fulfil more needs? Also, if a small church has fulfiled its supposed role meeting needs, the church should cease to exist? If so, does that means that in a modern first world country, assuming the society functions in the optimal way, will have no need for religions to exist? In your opinion, is charity the only function of religion and/or megachurches?

(btw i'm sociology student studying religion and the society. hence my questions. =))
