I'm sure you guys know about that poor girl from NYP by now. The poor girl got her handphone stolen and then had its contents mass-emailed throughout the entire school, which then quickly led to almost everyone else in singapore receiving it too. Ala Paris Hilton.

Why does anyone need to watch something that has been written about? How does watching it validate (or not) any of the views expressed in the blog post, or about this incident? It's not as if the specifics of the video have anything to do with the merits of the case! The point is that a person's private property was stolen and then exploited, and consequently people are judging the victim for something that is, frankly, none of their business.

When I read news about a natural disaster or an accident, it doesn't make me think, "Ooooohhh, I wish I could get a hold of pictures of all that blood and gore," in one breath and in the other, "Damn the newspapers for bringing such things to my mind!" Come on. Who really needs to examine their decisions here?

You know, I was about to say more, but Tym pretty much expressed most of it.

And whoever stole the phone and put the video up on the web should probably be prosecuted. In fact, wouldn't the fact that he put the video up make him easy to track down?
