Musical prodigy denied deferment of NS

Mr Wang said:

So we have a young musical prodigy in Singapore. He auditions to enter the Curtis Institute of Music, a world-class institution and the top music school in the United States. 12 out of 12 judges vote to admit him into the school.

Naturally, the Singapore government must act to block his way and stop his success. With National Service.

Yes, the two years course is a Diploma Course. Ike can always continue to study for his degree and Masters later on. I was quite thrilled to learn from my ex-English professor from NIE, Dr. R. Clive, that in Mindef they also have a department for arts, entertainment, etc. Ike can be of great service in this department. If this were true, then it implies that our prodigies could serve their best without endangering their hands and ears while in NS.

As I have mentioned before, we need brute strength for the protection of our nation; but a little music goes a long way to strengthen the souls and minds of our soldiers and officers and everyone in Singapore! Majullah Singapura.

National Day is round the corner. God has really blessed Singapore. I have been in Singapore for the past 24 years. I notice that it had never rained during our National Day Parade! Even if it had rained, somehow the rain would stop just before the Parade proper!! Or else the rain would come pouring after the Parade was over!! Little things like this make me very happy and contented. Hence, I am very happy with Mindef's deferment for Ike for 2 years. One step at a time. Ike will have lots of opportunites to shine in Curtis and in other world wide concerts.
