Birds In Wetland Reserves 2005

Lucian said:

Pupils visit Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and attend training by Sungei Buloh Officers on the identification of birds and bird census. Subsequently, the pupils make a few trips to Sungei Buloh to count the bird population. The data collected is recorded and updated on the website after each visit to the wetland, especially during the migratory season.

done through a manual count, with binoculars.

for shorebird census, they usually do counts from the different observation hides around sungei buloh. for sentinel birds, they walk around the reserve and identify birds through their sounds and through sight. quite an experience actually.
