WE NEED SUPPORT FOR LOCAL MUSICIANS.....

Decade said:

Singapore music has been here for along time, so why are we not getting the support. Observations from trips like Thailand, Indonesia and Japan tells me that locals there strongly support their own music. Places like HMV, Tower Records and the big CD stores thrive on their local music scene. They dedicate one whole floor to selling their local products. In Singapore? I don't even see a corner.

Yes, we need promoting local talent more, but only in the more 'normal' genres like pop and rock, which are accepted by more people. The media is still rejecting genres like metal for a lot of reasons. This makes it hard for the musicians in those genres to really make themselves known out there. However, having the media start to promote rock and pop is a good step towards the ultimate goal, letting Singapore music be known out there, be it rock, classical, pop, metal, blues, jazz or others. I will help with what i can

thnx.

Aren't local music those ah pehs and ah sohs that sing in underpasses? I give them 50 cents! See? I support local music!
