When H1N1 Hits Home - Day 1

Singapore Fountain Pen said:

Maybe I can begin by saying that true to the title, the H1N1 virus has indeed found its way to our very home. It's just too bad that my six-year old cousin, Matthin, had to be its first victim. What worries me is that he has asthma and is therefore considered to be among the higher risk group.

Sorry but H1N1 is no longer the hip and happening media hype now. It's MJ's death.

moving on. And paranoia is stupid. Ignorance is uncool. Educate yourself on the H1N1 virus and compare it with say, dengue.

You have a point in insinuating dengue is more lethal than the current H1N1 strain. But I don't think it's about being 'hip' and 'happening media hype' like you put it. If you prioritize media hype or a death which cannot be undone, over preventing unnecessary deaths due to H1N1 or a stronger strain thereof, might as well call yourself a stupid fool.

only the paranoid survive. anyone who goes for media hype is ignorant and stupid.

Who cares about paranoia or media hype. The point is, it is an illness that can be lethal to a child who has asthma.
Am still baffled but, is there anything "hip" about that? Be more sensitive people, and stick to the issue here.

LOL @ people who

1. Don't get sarcasm

2. Bash media hype when in fact, this obsession with H1N1 is DUE to media hype.

3. Are ignorant and paranoid without knowing the facts. Go figure: dengue is more lethal. There is *no cure* for dengue. No tamiflu equivalent. H1N1 has a lethality that's comparable to seasonal flu. But you don't hear the media being overtly cautious, or people starting "fight against dengue" blogs. Nope. Because precisely dengue's not the "hip and happening" news right now.
