Wonder of the World

WH Mok said:

I can’t decide if I should laugh or cry when I read this. A jogging track with a couple of misfit monkeys running to be one of the wonders of the world. Against the likes of the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls, Bukit Timah is like wood shavings of recycled timber from a dead log somewhere in Tasmania.

I don't find that very amusing at all.

If Singaporeans don't realise the ecological importance and value of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, showing other countries that it is possible to strike some balance between urban development and conservation of our nature areas, and how these forest reserves are the only remaining habitat for a whole variety of threatened species, some found ONLY in Singapore, then it's a real pity.

Yeh there is more biodiversity there than in all of North America.

Although it is a valid question to ask: what's so special about Bukit Timah that it has to be crowned a natural wonder ahead of the Amazon forest or Congo or Kalimantan?

Other than the fact that you are not likely to be murdered while visiting it.

I guess it is context, like single flower amongst grass, it is beautiful.

Compared beside the heat and concrete jungle of Singapore, Bukit Timah Reserve is truely amazing. The cooling spring water and atmosphere half way up the hill in at 8am in the morning leaves me a good memories comparable to Mount Kinabalu.
