POLL-Singapore seen emerging Asia's weakest economy

A Reuters poll reports

Singapore is poised to be emerging Asia's worst-performing economy next year, when it is likely to remain entrenched in recession as the global downturn erodes demand for its exports, a Reuters poll shows.

The poll predicts the island state's gross domestic product (GDP) will contract 1.1 percent in 2009. That marks a rapid deterioration in the economic environment from two months ago as the global financial crisis has deepened -- a similar poll in late September forecast 4.6 percent GDP growth in 2009.

Oh, oh. Time to sue someone for defamation...

Suing for defamation is for little girls.

Real men lock people up in jail cells and beat the shit out of them.

This can be easily fixed. Let's increase our ministers' pay from 2 million to 2 billion. I'm sure the problem would go away once our ministers are paid enough.

If Singapore is poised to be emerging Asia's worst-performing economy next year, shouldn't our ministers and MPs pay be the lowest in the region next year?

Just to be fair, if they give themselves raises during the good times, their pay cut should go down accordingly to the economy performance?
