The Mango Blog has a list of what the heads of top nations are earning. PM Lee Hsien Loong tops the list.

Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore (Country GDP: $235.6 billion - 2008)

Politicians in Singapore are amongst the most highly paid government officials in the world. Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore earns five times more than the American President. Lee Hsien Loong takes an annual salary of $2.46 million.

In all due fairness to whatshisface, one should consider that these prime ministers go on to many lucrative post-incumbency careers - Clinton, for one, gets paid a lot to hold talks. I wonder if there'll be a chance to see if people want to hear whatshisface's opinion (and not for his clout in the government) and pay dearly for it.

That's a supply and demand question. Ex-heads-of-state and political leaders of G8 nations like Clinton and Blair are really in demand --- people will happily pay big bucks to hear them speak. If they lost their jobs, they will have no trouble finding alternative employment advising big corporations and foundations or leading major international organizations.

No one outside Singapore gives a shit for Lee Hsien Loong. If not for his father, he will be driving a cab or selling insurance from door-to-door. He's worth at most a thousandth of what he's paid.

Please think again. Dun be so stupid and people are laughing at you actually.

US population: 307,151,000
SG population: 4,839,400

US GDP: $13.81 trillion
SG GDP: $235.6 billion

And let me calculate for you (GPD per person):
US: $13810000000000 / 307,151,000
= 4496
SG: $235600000000 / 4,839,400
= 48683

And if u are still stupid enough:
(Let me show you)
US: Each citizen provides only $4496 for the country.
SG: Each citizen provides $48683 for the country.

by looking at (per citizen), we are far far better then them. And if u still do not understand all this, you should go back and study your math.. and i think our government deserve the well pay.
