Agnes Lin: Spoilt brat or misrepresented?

Alvinology said:

After reading about a local undergraduate, Agnes Lin’s nonchalant attitude towards the recession in the Sunday Times, I was boiling with rage to give this nasty spoilt brat a piece of my mind.

However, after reading her blog entry whereby she claimed to have be misquoted and misrepresented by the Sunday Times journalist, I can’t decide who to believe. Hence I am reproducing both articles below for comparison and for everyone to make your own conclusion. :)

Trackback from Some Gen Y-ers are spoilt brats :

She claimed, on the one hand, that she wanted her justice done. And yet, on the other hand, she "turned down an offer to clarify matters in the newspaper, saying that she would rather wait patiently for the debate to subside...

Maybe the Sunday Times journalist could still be right.

If she herself is a member of Generation Y, that would exemplify the screwed up attitudes of generation Y. Misquotations. Slanting the story. Stretching the truth.

Trackback from Mum and Dad will provide.:

Like as though she will able to find a job of that amount as soon as she graduates and for all you know, with the current inflation going on, the price of a Chanel Bag will cost more then $4000 of today!!! ...

She HAS a job.

Thats where the article was highly misleading.. making us believe that she was simply an undergrad in NTU. She is actually an undergrad in NIE and we all know that NIE students are paid a certain amount of salary for the first 2 years of their 4 year degree course.

So, yes. She WILL have a job upon graduation. Infact, she is already employed.

If she is from NIE, and is training to be a teacher, we need plenty of blessings from god to prevent our children from learning to behave like her.

its so possible that she was misrepresented. i know for a fact that ST doesn't record down their interviews because they dont think there is a need to and i know for a fact that they have taken things out of context in interviews to fit their story needs. plus, they have made up things about the people they've interviewed and because they dont record anything down, they can always claim that they never misrepresented anyone. how do i know this? well, on 2 separate occasions, a friend who was interviewed had false information pertaining to him printed which caused distress because people started calling him up and demanding to know why he lied about his credentials

Not the first time the ST is misquoting, and it's not going to be the last.

Well we can't always trust everything we read in the newspapers can we?
