different human being hv different mindset, judgement, opinions, perceptions be it abt life, someone or something...
but living as a human being, one is being thought to hv self respect. self respect to others, to our selves, to our thoughts..
to elaborate more is not good, to hide is as equally bad.
and to say things which he doesnt know, what else that making all the unneccesary remarks.
never to look down on others, or to judge one's weakness;
coz by doing so, that show how small dat person who talk abt others is.
its not wrong to give pt of view. filter it before saying.
coz at some point, the person you discriminate could be exactly like the person you know or care abt.
put urself it the shoes of those, how u feel if things were said not knowing hw e life u been thru were...
til then, hv empathy, sympathy n care..espcecially to those whose life is nt as wonderful as we r...

Racism exists whether people choose to see it or not. Its a matter of where you look. It just so happened this fellow got caught and sensationalized. But we all know...the TRUTH about certain things...regarding races and everything..sometimes...the truth is simply harsh. But you cannot deny it. Lol.

At his level of language expression, perhaps what he meant was that he did not involve in races?

In any case, if the influence of the company he keeps (read: 'Ah Beng' segment of our community) led this seemingly retarded blogger to make the statements he made, then by persecuting him it should give a clear signal to the more malicious elements of this segment who are intelligent enough to keep their prejudice disguised. Remember, the actual danger of an iceberg is in the part that cannot be seen at the surface.

i read the article about this incident on the new paper. The blogger claimed that he was not being racist and had no intention of offending anyone and that he's not a racist(as far as I can remember).
Out of curiousity, I checked out what he wrote... I am definitely surprised by what he said and how dare he have such the audacity to claim that he wasnt being a racist after what he said?!

Community work to with a minority group would do that lad some good.

wisdom, in which this man, nay, immature being is clearly lacking.

i too, like many other people out there, believe in freedom of speech and press, but not if they run the risk of running up racial tensions again.

i believe our society has matured far beyond the point where slight insults would result in devastating riots a la 1960s style. Let us learn from that, and from the situation with Mr Geert Wilders in the Netherlands.

and i feel that it would be unwise to drag his parents into this hullaballoo of a media affair..unless we have solid concrete proof that he was brought up that way of course.

above all, please remember that our government has done extremely well in fostering inter-racial harmony, however cliched though it may sound.

i would like to discourage my fellow singaporeans; malay, chinese or indian not to retaliate or reciprocate in any form. do not lower yourself to this pathetic level. as singaporeans, we should have more common sense, nay, pride than to follow this sad immature being's example.

It's about time somebody start a racist war in SG. History will repeat itself..
And what we will learn from all this? Tolerance people! Just because some educated, very shallow chink make a racist remarks and get away with murder that doesn't means the other race can sit down and keep quiet about it... This is one thing about Singapore.. so very very peaceful and humble in every wayy! That's really True Singaporean.. you talk dirty about me, and I'm like ohh yeahh OK, I'm alright with that.. do that again! Hurt & compromise really works down there in Singapore!

If this is in US.. we take it to the road, protest every crap that dude got to ever said in his blogs! Frenzy and chaotic is the scenerio that you'll get. That idoit won't be able to get out of his house, let alone have a slumber sleep! This is really outrageous. Seriously, that AH chink got to offer his apology publicly to the malays, and sincerely. The court can get him do more of community works involving alot of Malays activity and a jail sentences won't do any harm either. That should be a start.. Damnnn he's lucky he's not in US, or else he's marked!

"It's about time somebody start a racist war in SG. "

So you think that will help?

And last I checked, "chink" is a pretty racist insult too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chink

Nobody will say you're a racist too if you keep quiet, you know?

wah so many comments already.
but this (fragrance) guy must really hate the state that our country is in now.
And he look very beng so no prize where he got those silly ideas from.

Such a stupid idiot. the best think we can do is to ignore blithering idiots like him

I have to words for him ...BRIGHT FUTURE. Join the pack of bottom feeders where race, religon, education and wealth have no meaning. :)

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 23 May, 2008 - 5:14pm

Racist?? Haiyaahhh...this is obviously a really naive and wet in the nose kid. Come to terms with our diverse community. Yes, in singapore you can afford to be and behave like such an ape.Possibily because Chinese are the dominant race.
Wait till you get out to work and you are 'discriminated' against the overseas indians and filipinos on your work opportunities..Venture out further(overseas) and you will be 'discriminated for being an 'import' . Not so fun getting the other end of the stick isn't it?
Fair call that he is arrested and given a smack on the bum. He deserves it for his poor upbringing and full blame should rest on his parents.
Wake up and end racism. You are not white, only yellow so live with it!
Maybe , instead of sending him to jail, we should send him to re-do his BMT. only in BMT that everyone looks equal and help each other out.
Stoopid racist.Should send you to Australia.

Comparing Mr Guo’s apology with these exemplars, one would realise that there are striking similarities between his apology and Wee Siew Kim’s apology....

Should bloggers who post quotes of racist remarks be responsible as well? There was this chap once who posted quotes that might have wounded racist or religious feeling, and he was very surprised that he was being "investigated" by various persons. So my advice to 'Anonymous Coward' is neither to quote nor link at all. Sever all connections. I understand that he might be offended at what was said (and so pointed it out), but he might also be construed to be advocating those remarks as well.

Posted by flogger* on 23 May, 2008 - 1:32am

We should mindful of other race feeling before writing blog.

You know, if the people at hardwarezone.com hadn't publicize his blog or entry, it would have gone largely unnoticed by society. Now that its in the national press, awareness of his blog has increseased exponentially. I wonder who is the greater evil here. The blogger or the whistle-blowers.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 22 May, 2008 - 3:54pm

people dont start if he dont start...those affected, can only say. as much as he can say abt his thoughts.. face it. this is life. "Dont play with fire, or else you get burn"...
true enough, its by words some redeem anger by words, in singapore.. this will die off soon. his future, we dont know.

Posted by in my own belief* on 26 July, 2008 - 10:19am

There's more than one way to skin the cat. The whistle blowers could have reported the blog to the relevant authority or the police.

But they chose to do it the dirty way.

By reproducing the racist blog, they (weikiat, Tomorrow.sg, etc) are intentionally perpetuating the crime and intensifying its potential harm and damage.

It's like a student (Prince) scolding KNNBCCB and another student (weikiat for example) repeating every word of it to the whole school.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 22 May, 2008 - 9:53pm

He's an idiot who's has an overly high opinion of himself. Throughout his blog, he insults everyone from all the different races. Reflects his upbringing and the state of our education system ( atrocious grammar too!).

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 22 May, 2008 - 2:52pm

If a malay or indian blog and bad-mouthed chinese people , would the gahmen be so bothered and concerned? would they arrest the malay for being racist?

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 22 May, 2008 - 1:56pm

???

That doesn't make any sense

Tomorrow.sg should be charged for repeating and creating more awareness of racial division. All references to the racial remarks should be removed IMMEDIATELY.

Posted by Anonymous Coward-36.230* on 21 May, 2008 - 11:16pm

The newspapers should also be charged

Posted by Agagoogaa* on 23 May, 2008 - 5:12am

Franco, you've been forced out of your closet. Sorry sister, but you had it coming. Already being in a minority yourself, you should know that the least you could do is to RESPECT society's diversity. Referring to an ethnic indian person as a "BLACK" thing and "stupid Malays" might've just cost you your future.

Best of luck with your career options though - as much luck as an ex-convict can get anyway. :-)

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 21 May, 2008 - 10:38pm

The interesting thing is that maybe his comments are not all that racist. He has a right to express his observations. Should this matter become a police issue? Only if the level of awareness is very high and there is an outcry from the Malay community.

To verify his claims is the important thing:
1) Are malays stupid?
2) Are malays capable of getting and holding onto jobs? Yes.
3) Do malay people do "these things" in the train?

At what point does it become "racist"?

I believe our malay community is more robust than this.
I suspect that this arrest is going to be publicised to discourage blogging and open thinking.

Posted by Anonymous Coward-36.230* on 21 May, 2008 - 10:34pm

anyone notice ANOTHER seemingly racist 'comment' he made on an entry dated 8th of March? the caption below this photo of a girl with a sunflower says,

"Lalala....Ignore that BLACK thing behind......
The focus of this picture was meant to be the SUNFLOWER !!!!"

i'm sure everyone can make out from the photo that the "black thing" FP was referring to was either an Indian or Sikh man. WTH.

it's not about being tolerant or accepting, i think it boils down to basic respect (which he obviously doesn't have); to not hit on points like skin colour and generalise a particular ethnic/racial group base on his own point of view or experiences.

even though i'm Chinese too, i definitely am against racial discrimination towards the minority races. one Chinese is bad doesn't mean all are bad, same goes to the Malays, Indians, Eurasians and folks belonging to other racial groups who we meet on the streets everyday.

FP, learn to respect.
heard he's arrested. my goodness.

I think mr fragrence prince had forgotten that Singapore is a multi-racial society. I mean i never read anything as stupid as his post. we should all ignore blithering idiots like him

Trackback from Delta's Dark Den of Destruction:

Anyways, I'm torn apart between opposing any prosecution of bloggers and supporting any legal action against idiots with keyboards. What do you think? ...

WEll ya. I agree that tolerance not equivalent to that of acceptance. Still i'm quite pretty sure there's alot others who are ready to accept rather than just tolerate. WE all seem pretty less accepting cos most of the time we just don't interact with strangers unless we need to.

SO be friendly and nice if someone asks you for directions etc ^^ Leave a good impression. I'm sure all these small acts will accumulate one day to a "Acceptance" society =)

It's true that you should never give out your password no matter what kind it is to anyone else.
However... qn... if ur account got hack... and someone posted some racist stuffs inside... And it triggers a wave of bombardment and someone lodged a complaint...
what should you do? Is the victim(who's account was hacked) gonna be charged?
Well you know your account was hacked.... but the netizens won't know...

In the spirit of civic mindedness, we should report groups of 5 or more people to the police for illegal assembly

Peace be upon everyone here.

I can't help but to laugh at what his writing. Yes, immature, and some anger too!

I would like to know more about how a person is to be charge by writing what, and where's the line drawn for him to be charge. What does he need to say in order to sound the beep?

Anyway, is there a inspection centre (a website by the government) that would screen blogs all of us write and give the thumbs up so we can post it. MDA can provide us.

I don't want to get arrested for writing something I feel innocently about. Please write to me afandi2@gmail.com because I don't know when I'll be back to this page again.

And very funny, "Tomorrow" in regards to "Today" newspaper = catchy. Who's idea? Take care all, peace!

Enlighten us, rinaz. Which other 'well known blogger' are you referring to?

Reading the CNA article about the arrest, it seems that the police arrested the (stupid) blogger after receiving 2 complaints.

Perhaps, there's no complaint raised against that 'well known blogger' you're referrring to? If that's what you're wondering about...

has to be Xia Xue lor..
who else can it be...

anyways
i think it would be quite tragic if he does time...
