Cowboy Caleb said ...

The ruling coalition (Barisan National) has suffered the worst ever election results since the 1957 independance thanks to clever teamwork between the opposition parties and bloggers!

Can't comment whether you deserve the victory, but I sure hope it has nothing to do with the novelty of a blogger joining the election. Many would definitely pray that you're indeed a "change they can believe in". ...

the day that malaysia stops having the bumiputera policy would be the day when singapore finally starts losing its economical edge in the region. So guess this means bad news for sg

Is there a cause for jubilation?

The coalition of opposition party is a loose one - formed with the sole purpose of defeating BN. Face it, politics is a power game - nobody likes to share power - the coalition will fall apart very soon - then there will be turmoil.

While strange enough, while votes are swung by racial agenda i.e. Chinese, Malay, Indian all ditched BN, the parties whom won are drawn on clear leftist / racial lines - which I am not sure is good for democracy on the whole. BN deserves to lose, but I seriously doubt the credibility of the parties it lost to.

The lost of credibility by BN has resulted in people illogical and rash votings - no offence to voters. While one man one vote is democractic - but it is a well engineered political game by the opposition to exploit a BN weakness, swing the votes to its adavantage, unfortunately to a band of parties that are quite distinctly drawn on racial lines - quite ironic - that may jolly well bring down Malaysia in the short run -

Anyway, just my two cents worth.

Tencents,

BN is a coalition formed on racial lines as well. Have you forgotten the component parties of UMNO, MCA, MIC, Gerakan? Are these not parties formed from racial roots?

At least PKR does not claim to be a racial party.

If we have to rely on regional insecurity ( i.e Malaysia being hobbled economically) for our own prosperity, then our well-paid leaders have clearly not been up to the task.

The MY election results are a watershed, now we shall see where the road leads. I hope it leads to a fairer, inclusive and friendlier Malaysia because I sure as hell do not like SG to be a election distraction tool to be bandied around by Najib and his ilk.

Celluloid Reality

That I agree with you. I don't believe in exploiting regional insecurity to further one's prosperity. I will despise our leaders if they do that. A person who thrust a knife into a dead man is, in my personal opinion, much worse than the man who killed him in the first place. And following the embarassing Mas Selamat case, I realise we also have many such people who take cheap shots for political gains. I'll save that for another day.

I hope it paves the way to a brighter Malaysia. But I still have my doubt. And I hope you can prove me wrong someday.

And I do hope Dr M can shut up. A lot of the shit BN is in was created by him. But yet he talked the loudest.
