Yvonne Lim Quits Smoking - Her Blog

Fresh Air For Women said:

Yes, I am finally quitting cigarettes after smoking for 5 years! It’s going to be a challenge, I know. I’m both excited and scared at the same time. But I will take it one day at a time.

Many of my friends have asked me why I’m taking the plunge, and step out to publicly announce that I want to quit smoking.

Meditation is a peaceful wonderful experience of calm. Many participants in the past have also given up smoking, drinking, gambling and other indulgences. ...

Double standards here. First he wants to attack hard statistics that show that smoking shortens your life. Of course it is alarming to say that smokers are 15 times more likely to die than non smokers. Why don't you look at life expectancy? I'm sure that's a statistic that's hard to give distorted picture.

Then his claim that smoking benefits society, in that great men achieve great things by smoking are anecdotal. So I suppose that anecdotal evidence is good enough for pro smokers whereas hard statistics are not good enough for anti smokers?

And to extend his argument, I suppose that Samuel Coleridge, Kurt Cobain, Chet Baker and Keith Richards would be shining examples of the ability of opiates to enhance peoples' abilities to contribute to society? I suppose that since they use cigarettes and morphine on the battlefield to help soldiers fight on and relieve injuries respectively, that their benefits somehow extend to peacetime societies without further elaboration on how these situations are similar?

I'm also wondering why our government allows tobacco but bans cannabis, which is medically proven to be a less harmful and addictive drug. One reason is this: tobacco is controlled by powerful industrial groups who use the vast resources they obtain through ruining your health to sustain a campaign of deceit and misinformation so that they can further obtain vast resources through ruining your health. Potheads who grow the weed in their homes don't have recourse to this.

The fact is that the economic ascendency of vastly populated Asian countries represents a great growth opportunity for cigarette manufacturers all over the world which is why they're beginning to unleash all their evil propaganda on us. We shouldn't be allowing them to fuck with our lives in this part of the world.

You should watch "Thank You for Smoking" where in 1 scene a tobacco lobbyist, an anti- gun control lobbyist and an alcohol lobbyist get together for lunch. And the tobacco lobbyist boasts to the other 2 that he has the best job because more people die from smoking every year than from drunk driving, drinking to death, or firearms.

When looked at in a different logical way, however, a wholly different picture emerges: the statistics show that 99,993 per 100,000 non-smoker escape death, while 99,896 smokers also escape death. This means that a smoker has a 99.9 per cent chance of escaping death. Not nearly as alarming, is it?

NO ONE escapes death, you dipshit.
And smokers do not have the right to pollute the air non-smokers breathe.
Your oxygen-deprived brain is misfiring. That is why you are unable to reason properly.
The solution to this is for you to hang yourself from the ceiling, stuff a carton of cigarettes up your ass, and set it on fire before you asphyxiate.

Go!

He's a motherfucking dealer. Most dealers don't use their own drugs.

David Tang is indeed a dealer --- he's the chairman of Pacific Cigar as well as the owner of the Cigar Divan in Hong Kong. But he certainly practices what he preached fervently --- he's also a chain smoker. Google the name and you'll see.

Well then let's not be too harsh on him since dying of cancer is slow and painful.

One other thing, cigarettes are not a good thing on the battlefield. Especially not at night where a smoke could give away your position. The last words of the short story writer Saki was "put out that damn cigarette", just before he got killed by a sniper.

This is something the Hong Kong faggot forgot to mention, either due to ignorance or due to his never having worn a soldier's uniform in his life.

When I say "faggot" I mean also that smoking causes your dick to stop working properly.

Not everyone is as dumb as you. Anyway, the use of tobacco products is only permitted during smoke breaks --- certainly not in the middle of a combat operation --- that's why you only see such stupid stories in works of fiction.

The story I related is of how a real person died. It is not fiction.

What you do not realise about combat operations is that there are no breaks. There are breaks during exercises, but not during combat operations because you are fighting the enemy 24-7. You going to tell the enemy that there is a smoke break going on? If people have to smoke during wartime at night (and they have to smoke at some point because nicotine is addictive) then they are doing so at their own personal risk.

If this situation does not exist, why do you think that the targets you see during night firing are smoking cigarettes?

Who's the stupid cock here?

Posted by aaronkwok* on 19 November, 2007 - 10:55am

You're right. It looks like the Saki story isn't fictitious. My bad.

Recently I suffered a heart attack, and was rushed to hospital by ambulance, had an angiram and two stents placed in my right artery due to a 95% and 70% blockage. I have been a smoker for 21 years and so it was time to get rid of the fags!

I have set up a blog http://can-stop-smoking.com/ so I can have a central place to hold articles of interest as I research smoking… I am happy to chat and would love you to comment or put forward your thoughts. There is no turning back now! I look forward to feeling healthier and having more energy.
