The slowest taxi in South East Asia

The 3 people in the video actually squeezed up a trishaw and were laughing all the way at the poor old man. And they even haggled on the few dollars with him.

Also, the fact that the uncle is still working shows his COURAGE and WILL to live on. Unlike you three good-for-nothings, just creating havoc there.

Well, these people think they're more superior to the old and Asians. They seriously ought to reflect on their behaviour and those people who do not think they're in the wrong. :X What has the society become?! Even if the uncle was slow, please have the minimal conscience to PAY him, unless you all are brokes which is, perhaps, possible. Do not do unto others what you don't want others to do unto you.

What kind of people are you????? Such a disgrace to human being.....
If you decided to use a service for an agreed price. PAY UP! especially after service has been rendered!!
If you want to bargain on the price after receiving service (maybe because service is not to your standards), at least have the decency to PAY UP whatever you are willing to pay - which was S$5.
S$10 is only approximately GBP3? S$5 is only approximately GBP1.50?!?! Please do your maths! What can GBP1.50 purchase??!!! To that riskshaw rider, S$10 could have bought him 4 meals or at least a taxi ride ride from the central part of Singapore to either the north/south/east/west heartland.

Be it the victim is an old man or any other person, treating him or anybody with respect is the key. Taking video to humilate an old person is not the Asian way. Nothing personal but the humours and jokes in England may not be suitable, in this case, in Singapore. Please note, there are different cultures in this world. English culture does not dominate the world, even when it colonize alot of countries long time back. Now the union jack does see the sunset. Earlier during winter I guess. Do not let other experience something that you do not wish to experience it yourself.

Let's get them out and beat punish them. they should be in singapore. get timmy the builder as well.

D*Law (captain keyboard warrior)
The british government over £50'000'000 (the equivalent of $100'000'000 USD)
British telecoms sent over a team that re-did all of your basic communications
Several very large music festivals were held with all profits going to you.
Sorry but you've just exposed yourself as a complete cock jockey - sucks to be you.

As for living on benefits, a pension is not benefits - There normally provided by whatever company you worked for during your life, and most people are given the opportunity to stop work and start their pension at the age of 60 or 65. And those that do live on benefits, some of them are un-able to work, so we help them out - It's not a lot of money, but at least their not begging on the streets or working themselves to the bone. Yes there are some people that cheat benefits - if they're caught then they lose all their benefits and they have to pay back whatever wasn't rightfully theirs.

And so if i went over to singapore as a builder and put up a wall that's half the size it's supposed to be you'd still pay me the full agreed amount? Or say you went into a shop and bought a television only to find there's a crack on the screen, you wouldn't return it?

And now petty racism "whitef*cks" Showing real maturity there, I could call you a short ass, yellow skinned, slitty eyed catf*cker. But I'm not going, as not only would that be insulting to my girlfriend who's half singaporean half brazilian but i win arguments with intelligence not abuse.

Speak up. -

The old man agreed to take all 3 of them, dare i say it he probably offered the service to them.
Not paying for the service? they offered $5 but the old man had no change. And they needed the rest of their money for the taxi they were forced to get. Not to mention apparently the old man wanted $15 for the whole journey and he took them about 10% of the way.
Posting the video online? Just shows hoe much of that was a complete non-event and someone has grabbed hold of it now and is parading them all over the internet like some sort of freakshow, invading my car audio forum just to provoke reaction and have an argument.

Tim

Posted by Timmy D* on 4 November, 2007 - 8:35pm

Your highly intelligent arguments are terribly flawed.
1) You don't escape payment just because you have no change
2) From which part of the video shows the journey is only 10%? Starting point of the video doesn't mean start of journey.
3) If you are as old as that old trishaw rider, i would not have hired you as a builder in the first place. Even if i would, i would not force you to perform task that requires at least 3 people to complete.

What if i were to take a video of you suffering, insult your inability to build a full wall, mock you and then refuse to pay you afterward just because u have no change? Would you still insist that you deserve all these?

Seems like your intelligence couldn't help you think logically.

Don't worry, I am not that immature to call you names like retarded *sshole or D*ckhead with a pea brain that can't think logically.

Posted by BODavis* on 5 November, 2007 - 3:36am

1) It was the old guy that didn't have any change - and how dare he look in another persons wallet - incredibly dis-respectful
2)The fact the old man agreed to take them the whole way home, yet when they got out they still needed to get a taxi - he clearly didn't go far at all. And if you listen to the brits conversation it's obvious that they had only very recently started their journey.
3)You wouldn't hire me as a builder as i wouldn't be suitable for the job, the old man shouldn't have taken those 3 chaps HE isn't suitable for THAT job

Their not taking a video of an old man suffering, their taking a video of their time on holiday, and the speed they were going is quite frankly hilarious. The old man can't speak english, quite clearly he didn't have a clue what they were saying. They could of been commenting on what a nice guy he was for all he knew. And i bet the old guy had $5 in change and just didn't want to give it to them - who doesn't carry any money at all?

Posted by Timmy D* on 5 November, 2007 - 5:08am

U suck eggs!!!Get a life u no good idiot! i Curse u to get involved in a car accident and be paralyzed for the rest of ur life!!!!

Posted by Anonymous* on 6 October, 2008 - 7:34pm

So, were the 3 yobs commenting on how nice he was in the video?

What's with the "old guy had $5 in change and just didn't want to give it to them" anyway? They weren't even going to pay him at all. $10 dollars my focking ass indeed.

Posted by MattL* on 7 November, 2007 - 12:37am

You wrote as if you were there at the scene.

“The old man agreed to take all 3 of them, dare i say it he probably offered the service to them.
And they needed the rest of their money for the taxi they were forced to get.
It was the old guy that didn't have any change.
The fact the old man agreed to take them the whole way home

And i bet the old guy had $5 in change and just didn't want to give it to them - who doesn't carry any money at all?”

Are you one of the 3 guys?
If yes, such weak defenses get you nowhere.
If not, quit making lame assumptions.

Posted by Speak up* on 5 November, 2007 - 5:54pm

What an idiot.

1. How did those 3 guys think that an old man on a trishaw could get them home? They must have been really drunk. And how did you think that the old man could get them home? What drugs are you on?
2. How did the 3 guys communicate with the trishaw rider to send them home if he doesn't speak English. There's only 1 route for the trishaws: up Hill / Victoria Street and back, that's about it.

Posted by aaronkwok* on 5 November, 2007 - 9:23am

1. Because British trishaw riders could carry those three and at a fair pace, the trishaws around london are actually quicker than getting a taxi.
2. I'm fairly sure the old man could understand an address and numbers.

Posted by Timmy D* on 5 November, 2007 - 4:50pm

I think I know what the problem is.

They have rickshaws in London which are manned by youngsters, giving the 3 Brits the expectation that rickshaws are used for transportation.

Well over here, they're not. Over here, trishaws are kiddy rides for tourists, and not the same as in England.

No wonder those 3 wankers called it a "taxi".

Posted by aaronkwok* on 5 November, 2007 - 8:19pm

I've just confirmed that I'm talking to an idiot.
First I didn't know they had trishaws in Britain (I mean the same sort as in Singapore).
Second you keep on insisting that the trishaws there are a form of transportation, which is wrong. They're novelty rides for tourists.

What you are doing is like buying a toy phone, and then asking for your money back when you find that the toy phone does not have a ring tone. This is the reason why I think you're an idiot.

Posted by aaronkwok* on 5 November, 2007 - 6:25pm

Timmy D - you are seriously out of point and your arguments are really weak. Don't worry, i will still be nice not to call you retarded *sshole. :)

Aaron - Thanks for the extra info regarding Brit's trishaw. Good illustration of the phone there btw.

Posted by BODavis* on 6 November, 2007 - 7:20pm

Actually I've just realised that the toy phones in the UK are real.

Squeezing 3 butts onto an elderly man's trishaw = insensitive

Not paying for the service in the end = bullies

Posting the video online = dumb + insentive bullies

What a disgrace to mankind.
What utter shame brought to your own country.
So be it.

Posted by Speak up!* on 4 November, 2007 - 6:48pm

This one incident has proved to me what a bunch of degenerate, mobbish, thugs some singaporeans can be.

all i can read in this thread is "BURN THE WITCH, BURN THE WITCH"

I wouldn't pay for that sub-standard level of service that the old man provided, and something tells me he offered to give them a ride instead of them asking for one. Just a beggar with a bicycle.

And if this is the largest of your countries problems, then how about doing something to help other countries who face much larger problems - I can't remember the last time singapore put in an active effort to help third world countries. However thinking about Singapore's priorities - how about giving your elderly the care that they clearly so desperately need. Your defending a man who is old, earning next to nothing and working outside all day everyday. Isn't it his turn to sit back and receive a pension?

Shame on all of you.

Posted by Timmy D* on 4 November, 2007 - 5:51am

What's your point on world famine anyway? You do realise that the singular focus of the video is on the 3 brits not even bothering to pay a single cent to the old man and even making snide comments about getting robbed as they haggled with the price.

And why the hell would you say that the uncle is disrespectful when he was the one being shown the contents of the wallet by them who were trying to wriggle their way out of paying him even the $5 [~2 pounds] they bargained about? If anything else, it was the three of them being disrespectful and thieves.

Burn the 3 british cunts, I say.

Posted by MattL* on 7 November, 2007 - 12:29am

hey f**khead, if you had just a little bit of humility and conscience your damned mother's soul wouldnt suffer in hell for bringing your ungrategul ass into this world. no one gives a shit about what you'd pay for, let alone if it's a sub standard service or not. it's a service afterall. at least asians like us would work hard and earn a living, as compared to you whitef*cks who live on welfare benefits. how different are you from parasites?

and oh, where the f*ck were you when the mega tsunami hit so many regions? did your godforsaken country send any help? F U C K Y O U

Posted by D Law* on 4 November, 2007 - 4:37pm

Frankly, I've no idea why this is causes such a big uproar. Every time I travel, I find people cashing in relentlessly on the tourist dollar- businesses set up to overcharge tourists, selling cheap goods at spectacularly marked up prices. And the vendors aren't interested at all in offering quality or almost any form of good service for their products. And these guys would just about sell everything and anything for money. We pity these people? Possibly because of age. So a guy is old, and ferries 3 tourists on his trishaw (a profession pretty much obsolete by the invention of the car, but exists exclusively for the tourist dollar), and these guys merely make a mockery of things, in careless fun and jest. Okay, so they hurt the feelings of an old guy who does little with his time but live off the tourist dollar. They take a trishaw, the guy cycles 4 blocks, the cost? 10 bucks. That's overcharging. But hell, some people have respect for everyone they meet, some don't. When I was in my teens and working retail, I get insulted by well groomed customers, but nobody else makes a sound. Why? Does being caucasian have anything to do with getting attention in the local media? Or is it being old?

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 4 November, 2007 - 4:54am

dude, you're missing the whole point here. not paying for a service is cheating. period.

Posted by D Law* on 4 November, 2007 - 4:41pm

They dont pay they cheat for the service it is a crime in Singapore what about the uncle making a police report bring them back to singapore

Got an idea why dont we post their picture on the webpage let all of us who miss the video have a sight of all the three "Gentleman"

That is also the primary reason why I left America after my study there, despite not having any bonds, despite the lure and temptation of money, cars and houses, and despite the glitter and shimmer of it all. There's an utter lack of compassion, humanity and basic human decency there. We will, in our lifetime, see the fall of a great empire just like that of Rome.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 1 November, 2007 - 9:43pm

uhm. were you in the U.S. or in Iraq with deranged soldiers? the U.S. i know - where i study and work - have some of the most compassionate humanists i've ever met.

maybe all you met were drunk college frat boys and skanky sorority girls. those well, are just f**king asshats normal americans love to hate too.

I wonder if the MPs are aware of this...

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 1 November, 2007 - 6:14pm

well, basically wats the point of whether they know about it. Should be whether those pple incharge can understand wats all these fuss about. All they know is to do some jobs for like a few days and then telling everyone they been thru that, try asking them to do it for 2 months and surviving on those pay as well and see if they can take it.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 2 November, 2007 - 12:43pm

I totally agreed with you. Think its also social value, culture or up bringing. This has become a social norm in UK, Europe, Australia or America. The young would bully even their own elderly in the same manner. I know because I'm living in Angmo land. They had no respect for their own elderly. Often you would hear news of elderly been bashed, abused, and robbed by their youth because in need cash to buy drugs & alcohol. This incident was certainly NOT blown out of proportion but rather a good reflection of how deteriorate our society might become in the future if we throw out good old value. LOL…They could afford to take a cab and get away but didn’t even to pay the elderly a cent. This is no doubt an act of bullying.

Posted by 黑人牙膏* on 1 November, 2007 - 8:04am

They are cheaters too not paying the uncle. Although one of them apologise so what get them be trisaw rider for one month get all the earing for the old grandpa. I will be their first passenger. I am about 100 kg and got friends much heavier than me we are willing to pay them $20 if they will pick us up together for the same journey

Who can actually help us? These mean that there are still ots of poor people out there for us to take care do consider what actually make the old man at this age to work and got insulted who can help us to find the three bastard

Trackback from Alvinology:

These three punks are being scolded ‘left, right, centre’ all over the Internet in forums and chatrooms....

Having lived in the US for 5 years, I was used to the racial insults, discrimination, contempt, and verbal assaults on an almost weekly basis. But I'm a young man, and at least they were picking on someone of the same age, albeit the numbers were vastly unbalanced. This video, however, raises the bar to a whole new level with three young men picking on and cheating an old man. To those who attempted to shield those three (I'm at a lost for words, "bastards" are too good for them since real bastards are at least human), I can't say much about your moral fibre or lack thereof.

In any case, with China and India up and coming, I can't feel angry, but sorry at them for the plight they'll find themselves in, in three decades' time. Good riddance to bad trash.

Guys just a note, those aren't Scots, at least I don't think they are... that's not how they sound. They actually sound more English than anything but yeah, Scots don't really sound that way. Let's just take it as three foreigners yeah?

Posted by websurfer* on 29 October, 2007 - 8:59am

Scot or Welsh or English or Irish or Yankee or Aussie or Kiwi it doesn't matter.

When you break their legs it makes a nice "krrrrk!" sound.

Posted by aaronkwok* on 29 October, 2007 - 9:55am

as a singaporean, i feel obliged to inform you that many singaporeans are hardly model travelers. and, if you feel these three individuals should stay away from singapore, then the same can be said for many of our fellow citizens.

also, regardless of whether you like it or not, this is pretty damn funny. so what if it was an elderly person? so what if the old man was trying to make a living? none of that makes it any less funny than it is.

the trishaw rider had a choice. he made a decision and appeared to have ultimately made a fool of himself. tough luck. maybe he should known his limits.

Posted by Sawl* on 29 October, 2007 - 2:14am

you actually mean yourself don't you. that YOU are NOT a MODEL TRAVELER.don't classify all of us in the same category as YOU.

I wonder whether you passed CME in school.maybe you did from copying answers and coming up with model tys answers. How is it funny to see an old man being humiliated? Why not imagine your own grandpa being treated like that? You are so morally challenged, it sends shivers down my spine.

On the side line, would the trishaw driver, mr lee have expected to be made fun of and not to be paid by? The 3 guys probably insisted on riding on his trishaw instead of separate ones. seriously, please think before you comment and act like you actually had education and an upbringing.

Posted by someone* on 3 November, 2007 - 10:47am

The reason why he accepted the offer of providing "service" to those 3 cunts would probably be because he's trying to earn a living. Who knows, the money that he might need would actually be his next meal.

I'm really ashamed of you, a fellow singaporean who actually made that comment. You are just not able to see things from the poor elder's point of view.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 30 October, 2007 - 10:45pm

in short your saying u find it funny to make fun of older/ weaker people whether or not if its your own family or friends , because they didnt have the power or knowledge to know better.

I'm even more ashamed to know that there are singaporeans like you that can ignorantly defend and act like that.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 30 October, 2007 - 12:03pm

your apathetic behaviour just showed how fuck up your upbringing was.
So what if you as a singaporean?
Do u need to be one to show respect?
Stop humiliating yourself and pls...don't try to speak on behalf of singaporeans...

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 29 October, 2007 - 9:51pm

The PAP government prostitutes Singapore to foreigners, it sells the country as a free-for-all whorehouse and the citizens as cheap whores. Naturally you don't expect foreigners to have any regard for this place or its people.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 28 October, 2007 - 8:13pm

There's something about the video that makes it look quite fake... like it's a setup.

Posted by jimmykoh* on 28 October, 2007 - 5:04pm

Quite likely that the old trishaw rider was being set up by those three A holes...

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 31 October, 2007 - 1:11am

Is there no blame to be taken up by the old man? Perhaps the (I'm guessing) Scots were dicks, but the old man should have known that he couldn't have taken them on to begin with. We don't know how they came to be on the trishaw, and can only guess if these 3 chose the old man purposely for laughs OR were approached by the chap.

And from the conversation, it looks like the trishaw barely made 4 blocks.

Some people need to start being objective, instead of heaping scorn on everything from the retirement age, to the administration, and to launching missiles to "wipe out their entire families".

Posted by Anonymous Chimp* on 28 October, 2007 - 4:02pm

Tried to be objective.
But the three assholes still deserve to die.

Posted by Anonymous Coward* on 29 October, 2007 - 9:58pm

Let's be objective.

The video doesn't look fake. It would have been good acting if it was fake. The old man cycling 3-4 blocks down Hill St / Victoria St certainly wasn't fake. The old man could have felt that he couldn't refuse the 3 guys. And if those guys got on at the River Valley / Hill St junction, there's a good chance they had just visited Clarke Quay and were pissed.

The objective conclusion is that the 3 guys need the shit kicked out of them. Maybe not their families, just them.
