The Powers that Be had erected an ERP gantry right outside my home! OMG!

So now, once I drive out of my condo compound, I have to pay at least S$0.50?!?!

Wah... I better think twice before I drive my car out of our place.

This is the first time I've seen an ERP gantry erected in an residential area. Stupid, stupid, stupid. ERP gantry right at my door step!

lol funny incident, I think we can take it as a "parking charge" to use the roads. Since ERP gantries are usually raised are "careful consideration" by the authorities, I think there is nothing much they will do if you raise it to them, I guess the contributor is just unlucky that it's in front of their house!

I guess that won't beat living in the CBD as well right?

It's not exactly in front of their house cos you can avoid it if you want to. If you read the papers the gantry is there to pre-empt the possible increased flow of traffic from the BKE. Anyway they move the gantry further down the road is still the same mah., since you've decided to drive along that road and add to the congestion there.

And as if ERP even works in the first place?

Of course it does. How else do you think they funded their pay raises?

Trackback from Vacuum State:

During the hippie years in Oxford, England, there was the white bicycle system. These whitebicycles (literally painted white) are for everyone's use. When you see one you pick them up, ride them and leave them where you stopped. ...

ERP gantry right outside my home! Eventually, the whole island will be ERPied! You drive out of your carpark and you start to pay. They tell you this is to enable more people to own cars. Keep on repeating this and Singaporeans will believe.

Hello, by then should have 2 gantry back to back, one pay when you drive out, one pay when you drive to park!

Stupid Ideas... by stupid people....
Assuming there is an ERP in almost every thinkable places that is congestable... and by doing this, the authorities think they can allowed more cars...
So, in the end, a lot more cars are just lying dormant in the carparks....
Imagine now... on the weekends... everyone who owns a car will relish the experience of driving their cars ... So ERP charge once a week is taken as a necessary cost and they will all drive out...
So..in the end.. the congestion gets worse coz there's more cars..

i think the government is encouraging us to ride a bicycle to work. and i am very disappointed that the authorities used some lame excuse to charge us for using the road. i pity those drivers who have no other alternatives to choose from to get to work.

The authority is already collecting $$ in the evening. Look at CTE.. Yes, the traffic condition has indeed improve during the 6pm-7.30pm slot.. at the expense of not 1, but 2! ERP gantries - meaning that a car would be paying $1.50 just to get home if the destination is AMK Ave 1 and onwards. and the condition from 8pm onwards practically worsens as the expressway used to be smooth moving 8pm onwards. Who gains?

Well.. Having ERP around the island adds more to the bouses of the "fortunate lot", isn't it?

A gantry at Upper Bukit Timah? Then, all the traffic will be diverted to Hillview/Bukit Batok. Where is the logic? So what's next, a gantry along Hillview/Bukit Batok?

Mr Lim said from feedback, motorists are willing to pay ERP charges if they can benefit from it.- WHO ARE THE STUPID MOTORISTS WHO SAID THAT?

Maybe their own people.. who are also.. motorists.

It's freaking pissin' and burdenin' for motorists, esp non-commissioned sales people who have no choice but to travel by car to clients' place due to the heavy items they have to carry during their work! Imagine, paying several bucks along the road when passing by frequent times~

Can the authorities please spare a thought for us poor souls who have not many alternatives, and stop charging with an excuse of minimising traffic congetsion?? If they really cared for us Singaporeans, they'll have executed other means which do not add extra burden on us. No wonder many people have migrated overseas cos' of the steep cost of living in SG..please please~
