A story of an old Angsana tree

Daniel Chin said:

Since antiquity, there is an old Angsana tree in Singapore. It is a valuable tree. So valuable that it has earned itself immunity: it was ruled that the tree is not to be chopped down if it is in the way of construction; instead it will be moved and transplanted under the guidelines issued by the authority overseeing trees. However, things took a twist of turns a few years back.

They already spent $200K, now they're going to spend more? Whoever approved the road diversion should be shot.

Boo hoo hoo! Dear Angsana Tree. You have taken so oooo ooooooo oooooooooooooo many years to stand tall. Now in just a few minutes, you will be hacked to death.

Boo hoo hoo! :-( :-(

What a load of shit. When they want it to stand they manufacture all the good reasons to keep it. When they want it to go, they are now manufacturing all the good reasons to see it go. S$200K for nothing, just like the fiasco of renaming some area South and spending a fortune on it before calling it off. Sometimes......

If some driver can not follow the speed limit, it's their problem. Chopping the tree and the problem won't go away!

Much ado over so little.

The last four hundred times I drove past, no one ever came close to hitting me, or risked being hit by me. In my humble opinion, reckless people who insist on not slowing down on unfamiliar terrain only have themselves to blame....

kind of stupid.. the speed limit there is only 40km/hr.. no reason that the drivers cannot siam the tree when driving so slow..

tree cannot defence itself... too bad..

how many idiotic reasons must scholars shamed themselves with, then pap will realise scholar's system is a total failure?
