Invisible histories of our city

yawning bread said:

After her successful foray into the little-noticed soundscapes of our city, in Singapore GaGa, documentary-maker Tan Pin Pin's latest work is Invisible City, which takes a look at the documenting process itself -- at the private citizen level.

"I decided to seek out people who, like me, choose Singapore as the topic of their work. I don't mean where Singapore is the setting for their work, but where Singapore is the main subject," she said.

"I was curious," she added, "about whether I was the only person who found this country so interesting."

What do we do with rubbish? We discard it. We hide it, bury it, burn it. We want to get rid of it, and get it out of our sight and mind....

Go watch Dim Sum Dollies - started at the Esplanade on 5 Jul and will go on for a about 10 more days on The History of Singapore! Wah lau, National Day came early. Can laugh until your belly (or bel-lee) aches.

Anytime better than the NDP August 9 celeb. Singapore population has been going up. But NDP venue this year is the smallest ever - how many seats are left for the public after inviting the diplomats and the who's who in the System? Doesn't it smack of the typical PAP Eliticism??? Get it, man?

Stand up for Singapore - don't even tune in to NDP live broadcast. Vote with your feet! OK lah - You don't want us at the party. Then we also bo-chap - who so hard-up to watch you enjoy party hor?
