Scorning parents. Miscommunication or deliberate?

Mr otaku said:

My parents are very traditional people and they are critical over the slightest things. They believe in "spare the rod and spoil the child" and that "Parents deserve respect from their children "first" because they wouldn't have existed without parents giving birth to them.

Recommended by Anonymous Coward: "Parent's condemnation may lead the children to aggressive self-destructive behavior.

Eh, yeah I know parents can be very destructive when they don't know what it means to be parents. I know friends who dread their parents because of similar reasons.

Though, it might be good if you can work on your paragraph organisation a little... will make your blog easier to read :)

Trackback from A peek into the road less travelled…:

My primary school days were filled with doing assignment books - 1 per day if possible, if not 1 every 2 days....

It's a bit ... intruding into his life a little too much eh... especially getting Tomorrow-ed about this sensitive thing! Sure, all blogs are public display, but I'm not sure if Otaku is going to be pleased about this.

Yes, I've always liked blaming my parents for everything. It completely absolves me from any and all responsibility in my life. Hey, I'm pregnant but I don't know who the father is - it's my parents' fault for not telling me about the birds and the bees. Hey, I flunked out of school - it's my parents' fault for not telling me they love me. Hey, I'm a drug addict - it's my parents' fault because they weren't there for me.

Ah, life... It's so much easier when you have someone else to blame.

You obviously sound like you were capable of making important moral decisions and value judgments by the tender age of 5. Good for you.

Hi, my name is UtterBullocks and my sarcasm recognition gland has suffered a massive failure. Please help.

Dear coward,

I read your sarcasm loud and clear, but apparently you didn't get mine. Now let's move from 'sarcasm' to 'irony'. (I'm afraid it's a big word for you... you may want to grab a dictionary.)

Hi, my name is UtterBullocks and I like to appear condescending to other people because I have a small dick and feel to need to overcompensate for it online.

I put the blame squarely on the Confucian upbringing we have in our culture. Parents (and bosses too) tend to twist this to their advantage to ensure obedience/subservience while they hide behind this 'moral high ground'.

Eh, do you know what is Confucious upbringing in the first place? I don't think there's anything wrong with Kong-zi's teaching, it's how people interpret it and even distort it for their advantage.

The Bible has a very balanced way of putting things:-

1) Parents are reminded not to provoke their children to anger.

2) Children are reminded to love and honour their parents.
