A visit to Cash Harvest Cult

Agagooga said:

I went to City Harvest Church last Sunday to try to save a friend's soul. I have since found that at least 2 other people I know go there, but I have mixed feelings about attempting to save theirs.

Now, I'd read accounts (example) of the place before, but visiting it and experiencing it firsthand was an enlightening experience, both of the slickness of megachurches and the Gospel of Prosperity they preached.

hi
my name is Donald and i will like to ask if this is a secret cult and if yes i will like to become a member so as to get rich now.so can you please help me.

Think about it , don quabble,

iron out,

think about : how about those non christians.. when they see our forums like that, would they be More disgusted and City Harvest Church of bringing souls to Christ would be shadowed rite

so don be rough against each other, show wad how christian should be like, yeah?

Peace.

We should be transparent and let them decide for themselves instead of putting up a false front in order to get them to go to church.

The difference - the former will bring true believers to God's kingdom, the latter, more hypocrites to into the church and shame the name of God. We do not need the latter unless they are meant to fill up the coffers of the 'church'.

In any case, we are exchanging views to ultimately reveal the truth.

the full time staff at VFC don't earn much. It's a known fact in the Church. As for where the money goes, the outstanding building loans and such are made known to the congregation. And a large bulk of the money goes to overseas missions. The results visible with over 1500 churches planted.

CHC loves money and only money. They believe in wealth and entertainment. If city harvest is so rich why cant they pay for the mission trips. They should know it very well that, its so hard for a student to find $400-$500 to go help the poor. Why not use the $4million you get a month and fund these kind hearted people. Why use it on entertainment???????? WHY????????? these are hard earn money.

To Mr Kong Hee the Business Man,
STOP TAKING MONEY FROM PEOPLE.

hi
i am interested in your ads.so can you please help me.

City Harvest Church loves only money?

They believe in wealth and entertainment?

They get $4million and dont fund kind hearted people?

Kong Hee takes money from people?

Some of them, the others on the other end really seemed offended that if people knew little about their local church.

Why do I see so many wars created out of religious conflicts?

cos the devil is placed to steal kill and destroy. notice only Christians get persecuted for the times are evil. people are getting more and more selfcentred and wicked.

No, not religious conflicts but battle between truth and lies from deceivers.

city harvest is nothing but a money making cashcow. chc stands for cash harvest cult. They preach a gospel of prosperity that is not even in the bible.

are you a catholic or...?

Modern day religions are not what is used to be. And i dont mean a single religion. As time past, truth becomes forgotten and there is corruption going on. Even though the bible says that christians should preach their religion, many of those who preach now are extremist. They just keep forcing people to join their religion. Are they respecting other religions? They consider ALL religions other than christianity as pagans and devil's work. Are they tolerant of other religions? Yes, this is a question that all of us must ponder about. What they should preach is not asking people to convert, but rather converting people's negative points like anger, lust, ignorance into compassion, wisdom and forgiveness.

If only they convert people into people of more compassion, wisdom and forgiveness, the world would be so peaceful. But no, thats not the case. People often say religion teaches peace, but why do we see so many wars created out of religious conflicts?

Sub quotation from the bible is unacceptable. Even more so is the misusage of God’s words.

Unfortunately, some people nowadays knowingly misinterpret quotations so as to gain. Hence, it is better to speak to the listeners instead of the indian chief. Sometimes, even though we might think we got the right idea of the meaning of the passage, we might be wrong.

Hence, do not be quick to judge. Tell them, let them compare, let them see the difference in the teachings, let God give them understanding, and they will understand. Remember, as a christian, always bite your tongue before you speak and qoute. Honestly, even I am afraid of how the preaching had evolved over the years. I am worried if the true essence of salvation will be lost. The world, as i see is probably still the same before christ come… but i believe some might beg to differ.

anyone knows if megachurches like city harvest can last how long?

Fundamentalist wackos have always existed throughout history. For more information, read "Battle for God" by Karen Armstrong.

Rodney Stark might be a better choice
-

City harvest is a very money minded church. too commercialised and materialistic.

I am from the True Jesus Church and I looked at this thing. I heard that CHC has a lot of rock bands and stuff and ppl tempting to sin and all that. Is that what God wants? The rock bands will distract people to come to church not to worship God, but to listen to good music. People would be worshipping idols... pop stars in fact. The donations given to church should not be used for personal use, but for renovations and whatever needed to help the church. My church speaks tongues. I do not. However, I know that all those who speak tongues in my church do not do it out of their own tongues, but it comes without them doing anything but praying. It also comes with bodily vibration. This is usual but not always. However, I saw one post in this page that says that ppl in city harvest jump up and down. Ppl in my church who do that are most likely demon possessed and could hurt someone. Why would a demon possessed guy in a place with so many demon possessed people harm his friends? This looks like the case in CHC where all are like demonic or something. I just hope that you people at CHC do not go foaming at the mouth. The Bible shows one case of a demon possessed child foaming at the mouth. I heard that City Harvest goers are usually very badly behaved and are gangsters. Maybe that is just a stereotype but that is what I heard. My friend from church once went to CHC and he told me that they were like "GIVE A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO JESUS!!! ("Jesus" walks in with everyone clapping)". Don't you find this a bit stupid that you are calling some random guy Jesus? I dunno. I think that CHC is quite wrong.

different people worship God in different ways?.. are you judging?

people jump up and down during worship the same way david and his men would've danced while praising God after a victory at war. sooo.. they were demon possessed too??

these 'rock bands' you refer to... they're no different from the Levites that israel had. Most of these musicians have chosen to consecrate and set aside their skills for God. to play for him.. make music for him, as an act of worship.

In the old testament, they had stringed instruments, tambourines, cymbals, and made loud noises to praise God. how different are we? we have guitars (stringed instruments), tambourines (drums maybe?) cymbals...

All you could say is "u saw a posts...u heard..and someone told u"...
"However, I saw one post in this page that says that ppl in city harvest jump up and down. Ppl in my church who do that are most likely demon possessed ..I heard that City Harvest goers are usually very badly behaved and are gangsters. ...he told me that they were like "GIVE A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO JESUS!!! What u wrote is totally absurd and u may be disappointed to know that none of what u wrote above is true...to find out more, do visit the church and see for urself...Dun stay on the sidewalk and start pointing fingers...careful not to pass judgement..

going by ur words, most probably u are very unfamiliar with charismatic churches.. what CHC does are also moved by the Lord, they believe in the Holy Spirit, and things happen such as deliverance, that is not demon possession, but some spiritual cleaning up is happening in their body.. And by saying that they are wrong, u are indirectly saying that the work of the Holy Spirit is unjust.. den who are u, an imperfect man, to judge a perfect God?

in the olden days, (think vatican pope etc etc), they spent large amounts of riches and resources to build the most beautiful cathedrals and churches. why? the purpose was to display what they believed was God's glory, and to make 'God's House' the most beautiful place it could be.

When Solomon built the temple, he spared nothing. Gold, Silver, Prescious stones. The people came and gave freely. Even their gold earrings and whatnot. How is this different in any way? wanting to give God the best, and wanting Him to have the best.

i was once in CHC, i felt that the church strongly urge the members to give their tithes, if we didn't give it in time they would ask the cell groups leaders to make a call to us and asking all kind of questions about the missing tithes. i wonder why they would keep a record of whether we tithed or not? and i agree with Tammy_10, thats what they will do!

city harvest is a cult, no doubt about that, they worship their church more than God himself.

I am not trying to be difficult. I am enquiring into your source of authority or your basis. I think your comment is revealing as to one possible reason

I've went to City Harvest Church before,

As City Harvest is a big church, sometimes, they might be rippling misunderstandings,

but from what I experienced there was true worship and true searching of God

people may be stumbled from people there , but that is a walk journey in your faith and beliefs

when they preach about prosperity, they do not link it to the gospel,

and from where I went, it was preached by an external speaker that came

it didnt tie gospel with :prosperity: but surely as the Lord gives, you believe you shall prosper in Christ, be it little or much, it is shall men add to yr bosom

We should help a church if they have any flaws instead of putting them down

Big churches will continue to exist for very long and we should mend and support local churches

Anyhow, I don’t expect that everyone will agree or disagree with me. What I wrote is my personal opinion, and you have been free to disagree.

Shalom Aleichem.

(1A) You reap what you sow, you get what you give. If you tithe you will receive more blessings from God. If you don't tithe, you cannot expect to receive the same amount of blessings from God against someone who tithes.

(1B) Offering is a very sacred duty for christians to comply. If you do not understand the meaning of offering. Please kindly refrain from giving. If you have a grudge against any of your brother, leave your offering at the side, make peace with your brother before giving.

(2A) Tongues roll out without order.

(2B) read 1 Cor 14

Please observe the contrast between (A) & (B).
(1A) is telling the believer that the blessings we receive from God is proportional to the amount of money we give to the church. However we must know that God loves everyone equally. Whether we tithe of do not tithe, it makes no difference to God for he was hung on the cross for all. So that anyone who believes in him will have access to his Kingdom. In regards to (1B) giving to God 10% of our income is an order from God. However he want us to give correctly with the right mindset. How dare anyone bargain with God for his blessings with our worthless earthly currency. Let those who do this remember the story of Achan. Let those who do not do this remember the incident when Jesus said those who are without sin may throw the 1st stone.

(2A) is a typical scenario in some churches in the world now. Only the person who speak in tongues know whether is he really speaking with the manifestation from God or is he merely speaking in his own tongue. However I must remind that if he is speaking in his own tongue yet claiming to be Godly language is tantamount to poking fun at God. Let him answer for his own actions. (2B) states a chapter on the correct use of tongues. We are all mere fools if we were to look at the standard of God's borderless intellegence. How dare one pick on God's gifts and poke fun at it. Again let those who do this remember the story of Achan & let those who do not do this remember the incident when Jesus said those who are without sin may throw the 1st stone.

God is omni-present, borderless powerful, absolute authority. Those who play around with his authority will ultimately pay the price. But it is not up to man to decide how much the price will be. But rather advise him like a brother on what is not to be done. If he does not listen after your advises, distance yourself from his acts. But maintain your brotherhood love with him and convince him not by mere words. Rather with real actions. So that when he sees it, he will be convinced. It is a tough route to take. But what is this compared to the humiliation and pains Jesus shouldered for a world of sinners.

God bless.

CHC rocks. it is changing lives daily. so so so mani are added to God's kingdom everydayyys! :D Singapore is a first world country, CHC being in singapore would wan to be first class church too with great presence of God! If you thing CHC is jus making money, you are way wrong. What wrong with big and nice building? Then must church be small place or some creepy place then how will God be glorified in that way? I am jus upset how people can point their finger around Pastors who laid down their lives for OTHRES. With my life, i can say that they have changed life, HOW ABOUT YOU?? What have you done to make this world a better place? Judge and you will be judge. For if God is with those who love and obey him, who shall we fear? People with so many comments because CHC has made jus a impact that has already went so far ahead with many people mindset so that whys! Although i am not from CHC, i am so proud of them and of myself to call a christian. Common, they are really impacting lifes. Sun jus got Jay chow saved and more than million souls being impacted and heart open towards God. How about you? Just some thoughts.

do you have email?

yes

sun has to dress like that because she's a singer which can go out to the singing world where most are non christians

although im not from CHC, we are proud of our local church

There is only one god. Be good.

Posted by lameboi* on 18 September, 2007 - 1:04pm

its not that being in city harvest is your poorest period cause you gave to the offering.God will bless people financially. Its just that you don't believe/trust him that he can bless you and you give manyfolds of blessings.

Was bored and I saw this web page about CHC. Wow. Didnt know people have so much to say about this church. Anyway, in the past, when I was not in there, once I heared about CHC I would think, "Big church, look so funky, but I dont think they are spiritual enough(knowing how to pray, share great testimonies about God)" Boy I was wrong when I 1st stepped inside.

During worship, everyone around me was worshipping God all their hearts, being so sincere. When Pastor was preaching, they would always respond loudly with a "yes!" or an "Amen!". This shows that the members really listen to God's word(compared to other churches through my experience).

For those who are no longer there and are so glad about that, do you ever remember the 1st time you encountered God in church? I believe you stayed there for some time because you know that something inside of you that felt so secured with God's love. And how did that happen? Thousands of members praying for you and not forgetting the "high-class" musicians and worship leaders(they dont just perform well but they always pray for God's anoiting before "performing") that ushered the presence of God. Sometimes people just forget the 1st love or 1st encounter with God at that place and come up blaming the church for blahblahblah.

Oh, yes! I have been really offended with so many people in that church. But guess, what, I don't care! Is my faith that weak? Anyway, all human beings arent perfect. Not even the leaders or Pastors. So why make such a big fuss out of it when people in the church do some tiny weeny or major? How about the 1 or 2 people who treated you with so much sincerity?

Sun, being a pop singer is her ministry. Did you know she has touched thousands of people around Asia with her testimony during her concerts and that God got her out of it? Touching people's hearts and opening people hearts to allow God to enter their lives. She has done so much, what have YOU done?

Dressing badly to chruch? The leaders never chase you out of the church right? They just want you to look better and bear a good testimonty for God. What if you dress so shabbily and you meet your friend coincidently on the way to church and they know that you are going to church? What will they think?

Money issue, so what if you dont get your "manymany-folds returns" You give offering because you want it back or is it simply becuase you want to bless God's kingdom? Sometimes I do get shocked my how the church uses the money. But as long as I have this generous heart always wanting to bless His kingdom, nothing else matters.

Just remember, CHC used to be a bunch of teens wanting to make a difference in their world, impacting people's life. And I totally agree that they have definately made this place a better world to live in.

But if CHC isnt your place, its ok if you dont attend and go to other churches. But don't keep the hatred within you it is not healthy physically and mentally. I'm sure God wants you to forgive us imperfect people.

I would love to have friendly discussions with you on these matters.

City Harvest scares me. Their teachings, their buildings and their pastors are completely in contradiction to the early Church. Being a Catholic, i find their interpretation of the Bible skewed too much to materialism and neo-paganism, things that the Apostles have warn us. I fear that once a scandal is revealed, many of their members may lose faith. It is like a time bomb, waiting to explode.
