Launching A Web 3.0 Industry In Singapore??

iBjorn said:

This event almost looks like another initiative by some harried civil servant who pulled together a bunch of kakis from the other ministries to show the whole world they are all collectively putting effort in doing something that meets their KPI/ ROI/ whatever.

3.0?
In the first place, where's the focus on 2.0 here in Singapore? They just jump over it and head down to 3.0?

Chuckle... maybe the Singapore govt should have called it "Web Infinity Point Oh" just to make sure we're ahead of the game. "Ah-Ah-Choo!" Sorry, I'm allergic to bullshit. :P

Don't play play ah.... Look out for Asia3! :)

Dun underestimate the gahmen ok. Think about it - why would they want to dip its fingers into everything imaginable, even if those are green fingers?
Backdoor to control the web? Visionary dun ya think?

Trackback from SG Entrepreneurs: MDA-IDM Jamboree:

The invite to the event, see u there....

Well there has been talk of a web 3.0. Link to NY Times article:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/12/business/12web.html

Referred to as Web 3.0, the effort is in its infancy, and the very idea has given rise to skeptics who have called it an unobtainable vision. But the underlying technologies are rapidly gaining adherents, at big companies like I.B.M. and Google as well as small ones. Their projects often center on simple, practical uses, from producing vacation recommendations to predicting the next hit song.

But in the future, more powerful systems could act as personal advisers in areas as diverse as financial planning, with an intelligent system mapping out a retirement plan for a couple, for instance, or educational consulting, with the Web helping a high school student identify the right college.

The projects aimed at creating Web 3.0 all take advantage of increasingly powerful computers that can quickly and completely scour the Web.

But Singapore a pioneer? HAHAHA.

And on checking out the actual site, there doesn’t seem to be any mention of Web 3.0 (or maybe I just couldn’t find it) so it could just be sgentrepreneurs.com trying to hype the event up with the use of the Web 3.0 phrase....

Haven't you heard? Web 3.0 is actually the codename they use to ensnare dissidents on cyberspace.. lol

Trackback from On The Red Dot: One Day after Jamboree:

Ok. It has been one day after MDA’s IDM Jamboree and the MDA has a news release on the event here and SG Entrepreneurs is talking about their partnership with MDA here....

There are much politics involved even if some bunch of people decided to trumpet something radically new like Web3.0 (Btw, singaporeans largely have not even caught up to web2.0 standard yet)

Just like the negotiations for Youtube. Big companies will force their way in and try their best to chomp you out of your share. Such that the standard will no longer be so called "owned by Singapore."

It does not matter which version or who initiated it but should be phrase as whether we can have a "share of this world wide web".

Ultimately the end products will benefit users by enhancing their eyesight and their browsing experience.

Initial to now flow " words -> pictures -> audio -> videos -> ? " Based on the flow, would you want to view a webpage with only words or would you like a webpage of similar content but projected in video/audio ? But still we have to take into consideration of our bandwidth.
