Free Bootstrapper's Bible. Is it useful for Singaporeans?

I have read this book and sadly didn't use much of the ideas which are mostly practical and sound. This led me to ponder, whether Singaporeans and PRs (I'm a PR) are too comfortable and the very thought of entrepreneurship takes us out of our comfort zones? The Government on its part has been promoting entrepreneurism but I don't see any major signs of people jumping into the fray to become entrepreneurs though we have quite a number of well-known faces that get recycled as role-models a lot.

I know that I'm guilty as charged.

Sometime back, we wrote an article to explain why Singaporeans need to adopt bootstrapping than rely on textbooks answers in being entrepreneurs....

Sg is the best place to start a biz due to the low costs and easy procedure

It is however one of the worst place to grow ur biz due to the small market, the large number of govt projects which are awarded mostly on basis of costs than merit (pushing down prices to ridiculous levels)

I agree that it is a breeze to start a business in Singapore. Virtually no paperwork. However, growing a business is indeed a different ballgame. But how about an online business? The startup costs is significantly less than a brick-and-mortar outfit plus an online business has more reach but more competition too. I guess the wise thing to do is focus on a niche and compete globally via an online business. Easier said than done though.

I agree advertising can be costly but small business owners or entrepreneurs must not be competing with the big boys dollar for dollar. Instead they have to seek out unique ways of advertising, a guerrilla strategy or WOM/viral campaigns would surely be more suitable. Again easier said than done (this is slowly becoming my signature phrase, oh no).
