P65 MPs are blogging!

»

P65 Blog said:

I never thought I would play football again – but the Youth Day at Ulu Pandan a couple of months back left me no choice but to put the hard-court soccer shoes back on. Thank goodness my team-mates were really good! It was great to dribble, pass and (attempt) to shoot at goal – just like Secondary School days. Never thought being an MP could be this fun.

Trackback from Simple is the Reason of the Heart: P65 yet to Depart:

PAP's entrance will change the demographics of the Singaporean blogosphere. However, the space for expression will be constrained by how much they open up....

To Anonymous Anything: You mean u voted for them? I thought quite a number of them are walk-over-iee... lol

Trackback from Yawning Bread: When hip hop is scary:

This is as pathetic as an old prostitute in a bright new dress. ...

They have not published my comment asking for their thoughts on equity in education and what made a good teacher.

I am voting for leaders, not a bunch of social workers or people writing secondary school essays on "What did I do today".

Politicians discuss policies, and present viewpoints.

service providers entertain and distract. no one could be paid for having an opinion

`Fie, fie, you counterfeit. You puppet, you`

Aren't they trying a little too hard? If the MPs' intention to blog was truly all about engaging the public and self-expression, then shouldn't they be setting up their individual blogs rather than using a group blog? The whole idea of a post-1965 labelled blog just seems too contrived for my liking.

MP group blogging - the blogospheric equivalent of GRCs

Trackback from Channelnewsasia: MPs to perform hip hop dance moves at Chingay Parade next February:

Members of Parliament from the post-65 generation will be performing hip hop dance moves at the Chingay Parade next year...

See what a "not hip" feedback from a privileged teenager can lead to?

What's wrong with our politicians? Are they specially selected because they are from some other realm of existence that we ordinary beings are not privy to? Do these different phases of dimensions (attempt to) intersect at so-called "elections"?

I just want affordable health care and public transportation - with a decent roof over my head. Who cares if my "members of parliament" can hip-hop?!?

Somebody has aptly put it that it is easier to hip hop than really listen and solve real life problems.

Got a funny feeling Tomorrow.sg is (becoming) an underground vehicle for some political party because some blog was advertised even before it was launched.

Posted by Anonymous** on 5 October, 2006 - 6:14pm

You know if a bird flew over and....

Hey... I know you from somewhere before!!!

Hey, have I heard that somewhere before. Hehehe...

Posted by Anonymous** on 5 October, 2006 - 6:52pm

Will the opposition take up line-dancing or disco dancing in response?

Battle of the dancers!

honestly, the first thing that came to my mind immediately was that, its just a move to counter the WP's blog. also, it is their move to show the citizens that they are intune with the society as a whole.

well, to take this bread or not, is really up to the individuals now.

I wonder what tracks will they be dancing to.

Hand puppets tend to attract certain crowds

Trackback from mrbrown : You down wit yo MP?:

Methinks the da boyz from da crew should get educated in da ways of da Hood by a bruddah from the Old School. I'm talkin' 'bout DJ MMLee (yeah you know he), in da house!...

what are they going to hip hop in? gucci $ prada?zzz. seriously, you can't be taken seriously with that kind of renumeration now can you?

Posted by great gulf* on 4 October, 2006 - 10:29pm

not really. the repressed are no different from the expressed. that's why they are hip hopping under the watch eyes of the old dogs.

Posted by Anonymous Cowardd* on 4 October, 2006 - 9:22pm

What's next? Maybe the P65ers will start tattooing themselves and taking ecstacy- all in the name of identifying themselves with the new generation. Heck, if Eunice Olsen plans on being an unmarried mummy, I'm there to offer my services.

This country is going to the dogs.

Posted by Jimmy Olsen* on 4 October, 2006 - 9:10pm

they have been richly motivated to make a difference in our lives. we should not give them a poor reception you know.

Posted by Monkeying* on 4 October, 2006 - 9:06pm

if motivated to do sumthing... wasting time for dance reherse will actually make a very big difference...

if kena brain washed .... why no balls to post with real nick...

i wonder....

Posted by Anonymous Monkey* on 4 October, 2006 - 10:14pm

What exactly is a "real nick"?

Onay allsbay otay ostpay ithway "ealray" icknay? Ironyway,

i have to applause their first attempt to manage the internet has been successful....

This is appalling.. we voted for these scholars/overachievers to run the country. Not dress up like some gina kia/street brat and pretend to look kool.

Posted by Liberal* on 4 October, 2006 - 6:16pm

Engaging in PR and running the country are not mutually exclusive.

Few things are mutully exclusive. We'll have to put down our ladders if we want to see that
-
`Actually the Commandment read: No animal shall drink alcohol to excess`

I dont see any scholars or overachievers. Perhaps we have different ideas of what constitutes a noteworthy achievement in the little kingdom
-
`After incurring losses of some US$90 million over 5 years, the Singapore consortium lowered its stake to 35 percent, raising the Chinese consortium's stake to 65 percent from 35 percent and reducing the Singaporean share from a planned 70 kilometers to just 8 kilometers`

And don't forget, help the homeless!

wow really tough to be a MP these days..need to dance hip hop need to blog where to find time for residents

Posted by * on 4 October, 2006 - 5:01pm

This is so sad, they think that by doing a song and dance routine, they are now magically connected with the young singaporeans and people on the ground.

So this is what the other 66.6% of voters vote for... ... a bunch of hip hopping monkeys

Posted by Anonymoussss Cowardssss* on 4 October, 2006 - 2:00pm

Are the editors reading something we ordinary folks can't read? How come a blog entry can be aggregated even before it is published??!!!

Posted by Anonymous Coward*** on 4 October, 2006 - 1:46pm

What about line dancing?

I just blogged something on our most-1965 MPs doing hip-hop...PUKE! So I'm not surprised to read that they are also now use the blog to reach out to the post-1965 generation. Ironic that they are using cyberspace, seeing how S'pore has threatened to clamp down on free-speech on the internet...

Trackback from Villa Bali + MP + NoNameApplicable:

In my usual paranoid self, I attempted to suss him out. Apparently, the post-65 MPs have started their own blogs....

Let me guess.... the Anonymous Coward who posted this article belongs to the P65.

please lor.... you don't submit FUTURE DATED article to tomorrow.sg lor. even though the url says tomorrow.sg, it doesn't mean u submit the article, then post it on ur blog tomorrow.

Waste my time go click on the bloody link to see a countdown counter. what the heck.

Posted by Anony* on 4 October, 2006 - 11:19am

Anonymous Monkey, are you helping the homeless? Are you solving social problems or are you going hip-hopping?

dumb singaporean to ask me this...

Posted by Anonymous Monkey* on 4 October, 2006 - 11:11am

IAWTC

without knowing the problem faced on the ground.. how are u gonna provide solutions...

didnt the biggest criticism of pap is that they cant relate to the ground anymore...

this public stunt .... which they hope will engage the youth... is probably ill-adviced by some ypap.. which probably have told them that this is an "ingenius" idea...

Posted by Anonymous Monkey* on 4 October, 2006 - 11:35am

Posted by Anonymous Monkey* on 5 October, 2006 - 4:00am

Wait a minute. If the site's not up yet, where's the quote from?

they gonna dance hip hop in coming chinggay too...

i will rather our tax payer $$ spend on ppl that spend more time tryingto solve social problem like ... growing number of homeless old ppl... or help those old ppl ... who hardly can walk ... still have to go ard rubbish bin to collect drinked can.. etc

perhaps they just dun hv any solution at all...
