wordpress is better than blogger definitely. but blogger is more commonly used. hence, conformity sets in. everyone rushes for blogger. kaboom.

blogger beta does add more features to blogger, and wordpress's customability options are somewhat lacking, i feel.

We forget this up-and-coming blog tool called Multiply. Absolutely brilliant. You can even link your other, non-Multiply blogs to cross-post there too.

you can do whatever you want with blogger, for blogger beta users I recommend bloggeruniversity.blogspot.com and from there you can get more sources to hacks your beta. That's how I customized my blog, yaaay!
