The comments below the video are disturbing as well. The 2nd one accuses the video contributor of being racist, while the 3rd comment translates as "(contributor) wants to show the world how nasty Malay ppl are... wants to gain sympathy". I think this is another happy-slapping incident probably compounded by the fact that it's orientation season.

really feel kind of enraged after watching this video. not to be biased, but i think that put malaysia's legal network, malaysia's education system, and the fact that the majority of the population is of a certain race, this is what you'll get.

there are definitely much worser of such cases happening in malaysia. be glad that this isnt happening in singapore.

-lance.

Come on, it's Malaysia, did you expect any better?

In Singapore, the Government go out of their way to protect the minorities. Which is really commendable. Just don't expect the same protection in Malaysia if you are Chinese or Indian. Lucky we got out of that brief union.

University Putra Malaysia NOT University of Malaysia(sic)

Three things.

1. It's at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), there's no such thing as University of Malaysia. Unless you meant "a university in Malaysia"

2. I watched the video and I'm not sure why people are angry. I wasn't. All I see was a bunch of loudmouths yelling around. (Thankfully) no punches were exchanged.

3. *roll eyes*

I didn't even know there were universities in malaysia.

its a shame that u... as a malaysian chinese ... dun even know abt this saga... or bother to know....

these student has lodged a police report... the police came and walk away ... the campus security guard turned a blind eye ... that gal who was holding the camera was pushed to ground...

MCA has lodged a complain to that uni and yet to receive any reply...

its ppl like u ... who "care"/joke/make fun more of whats happening in sg (jealousy or inferior complex maybe?) ... than to "care" more whats going on in ur own COUNTRY... and with lots of malaysian chinese like u... no wonder u guys get pick on so easily...

background story:

the chinese kids are from an unofficial society. they wanted to set up something to help the newbies in the uni. they specifically did not get permission to set the thing up. but they did. those loudmouths came, bolstered from a rugby game, pushed their way around. from my point of view, everyone is stupid. from the chinese kids to the malay kids to the security guard to the person who shot the video to the head of the university. everyone is quick to cry foul these days. work within the group la, not outside the group for change to happen. never take management lessons, they all.

I don't think it's as simple as a bunch of childish youths.

The universities are the breeding ground for the hotheads in UMNO youth, and the incident shows the underlying rift between the different racial groups in the universities despite the facade of racial harmony.

In my opinion, the chinese students probably formed their own unregistered society after being discriminated against/excluded by the existing student leaders.

The existing student body felt threatened and was thus seen intimidating and humiliating the Chinese students in the clip.

The univeristy authorities are closing an eye because they are probably against the actions of the Chinese students - just refer to the last para in the news article above - different university, but probably the same principle applied.

I can't believe that as university students, their behaviour are so infantile.

Guess you haven't been to university yet? Haha university is where you are mostly given free reign to be infantile. Then again, some people are generally more predisposed to being infantile than others.

Malaysia Boleh!

Unless you're a minority in BOTH Singapore and Malaysia, you are not in a position to talk. Please.... The Malaysians don't make excuses - they are pro-Malay and non-Malays are second class, no doubt. It's not the same here, in Singapore. We are supposed to be pro-Singaporean but a lot of things are not available to the minorities. Case in point, just look at the number of 'Chinese-Speaking/Chinese Writing ONLY' job adverts in the papers. In Malaysia, Malay is the first language. Is Chinese the first language here?

Anyway, the bunch of Chinese in this incident tried to be funny and 'revolutionary'. In a revolution, either you will be stopped by red tape (Singapore) or by violence. If you people think that revolution is ok, then you should be supporting Chee Soon Juan just as strongly as you're supporting this bunch.

You are blaming the Malays for reacting, for being hooligans and uncivilized. Let me ask you this. If I light a small candle and irresponsibly leave it unattended and it leads to a major fire that burns down a building, would you blame the ensuing fire or the small act of irresposibility? The group of Chinese were the ones who lighted the candle, FOR YOUR KIND INFORMATION!

Sheesh.....

During my time we students of various races and religions were one united batch. Our Union, then known as CASU, was a force to be reckoned with. All of us, irrespective of colour or creed were very caring to each other. We were very carefull of each others feelings and sensitivities . We were very co-operative and "COPTION" (cooperation) was our main bonding reminder. But now it really break my heart to see the going on in UPM. Any fair minded person will not accept such behavior from the future leaders of this beautiful country. However if we look more deeply into the matter those rowdy students are not to be blamed. Obviously they are kurang ajar but this reflect on their lack of understanding of the teachings of their religion which emphasize tolerance, peace, magnanimity and other virtues which are too long to mention here. I blamed it on their parents, the University authorities especially, the country's system and their Politicians. What is becoming of this beautiful country? Remenber, in any wars, chaos, riots and so forth, there are no winners. Everyone will suffer in one way or another and even the Victor will not be spared. There will be setbacks for the country and its people. Please do not say 'Never mind' because if it happens the lessons will be very bitter. Remember, whatever your colour or creed we are all the children of the Almighty.
