Everything's going up!

Christopher Chan said:

So here we are, facing bouts after bouts of PESD (Post Election Stress Disorder). Barely 3 months after the election, prices have been up, up and away.

Taxis, MRT, LRT, petrol, diesel....do I hear a distant cash till ringing "G....S....T"?

The people are unhappy, some say the 66.6% too.

Better give some suggestions before MIW starts saying that I have taken part in partisan politics (Did I get that correct? Pardon me if I get it wrong because I only know that a citizen can speak up.) without offering useful suggestions.

Wasn't that the reason why the Progress Package given out before the election? To counter the expected inflation?

My Sec. One student recently wrote in his essay, "Nothing is impotent in Singapore."
I thought he meant "important" - a typing error. But he inisisted it is the right word, "impotent" for everything goes up in Singapore and nothing, especially price of goods and services, ever comes down!! :-)

Comment all you want my children, just make sure you do not contravene any of the Bhavani Commandments.

inflation is happening all over the world. it's not limited to singapore lah. comprain comprain, just except it as a way of life k! even in australia where i currently am (ouch, prices here so steep!), prices are rising exorbitantly - INFLATION! cannot escape means cannot escape.

You cannot compare Singapore with Australia. They have lots of welfare benefits and we have none.

actually if price of goods goes up and salary goes up at the same time, i don't think that's a problem coping with the standard of living. With the same amount of salary that we are earning we no longer can buy the same amount of things like we used to.

this is also why everyone's talking about getting more opposition parties on parliament.

-lance.

theoretically, competition improves services and lower prices(half truth lah). but competition also drives up salary for the elites. wah, best of both worlds hor while we give out pittance to the disadvantaged!;)

Look at the no. of hikes that are coming along, from public transports taxis, buses, mrt ... what's next? A ERP over each households?

66.6% is sure a mandate for price hikes.
