NDP 2006 tickets hit eBay and Yahoo! Auctions

IZ Reloaded takes a look at the NDP 2006 tickets (and even goody bag!) on sale at eBay and Yahoo! Auctions:

Tickets for the Preview parade are also on sale like this one by genlex2004 on Yahoo! Auctions. He is selling two green sector NDP 2006 Preview tickets at S$80 each. The dude also has a sms service to accept orders. How enterprising!

Why anyone would even want to pay a single dollar for this overcooked, overwrought artificial piece of nationalistic feel-good event is beyond me. You couldn't pay me to go. Is it any different from the NDPs of years passed? No. Its still the same stupid shit year after year. How many times do you wanna see overaged out of shape chubby commandoes do their freefall schtick? Or many times do you wanna hear Count On Me, Singapore ad infinitum- a song that was composed by a Canadian of all things.

You'd be surprised. I sold mine a few years back to a foreigner. I'd hate to think that locals would be willing to fork out the same price for such cheap theatrics

No lah, not the same anymore. Instead of counting, we are smiling already:

Smile for me Singapore.
Smile for me Singapore.
Smile for me, do you best to get more.
Smile for me Singapore.

It's been going on for years right? every year - around this time - the newspaper writes this story.

been reading these pages for awhile. So far, surprisingly silent on the passing of Lim Kim San.

Who's Lim Kim San?

According to mainstream media, he was the man who solved our housing problems during those glorious days of old...

I don't see any wrong of selling NDP tickets at ebay. If one willing to pay $$ to get the ticket, is their choice.

I agree with you. I don't see anything wrong with people putting those tickets up for sale on eBay. Its the dumbasses who is willing to pay good money for worthless shitty entertainment that needs to have their brains check. Sort of reminds me of those halcyon days of mass hysteria when idiots were fighting over Hello Kitty dolls at McDonalds.

It would be more heartwarming to see the proceeds of such tickets going to the destitute. that way, everyone can have a full meal on national day

ANYBODY GOT NDP TICKETS TO LET GO . PLS E-MAIL ME XTKS

actually i think it all depends on your mindset. it's true that the money could be put to better use, but it's difficult to change the mindset of people. if you could sell your tickets and use that money to help the destitute, why not? but it's up to each individual in the end, it would be wrong to impose our views on others. and although NDP might be just a show to make you feel proud of singapore for one night, but to others, it might be a really special moment. sometimes you don't realise you miss it until you don't get the chance to experience it anymore. i missed watching NDP for the past few years, and now that i'm overseas studying, i don't have the chance to anymore. just some food for thought.
