Singapore IMEI Database

Lostmobile said:

Using this free service, buyers of used handphones on the net as well as on WAP can verify if a handphone is already reported stolen or lost. And they might even want to report the seller and contact the owner or the police.

Recommended by Anonymous Coward: "It will help deter mobile phone crime in Singapore. It's free and the database will work better if more people registers and use it."

My cynical self thinks its some very elaborate scheme to collect IMEIs of handphones in preparation for some huge scam.

On the other hand, it's such a simple plan that it makes you wonder why IDA or a consortium of our profitable telcos are not setting it up, considering the huge number of handphone thefts in Singapore.

Dun be stupid. Wat can someone do with IMEIs? Use to to do online shopping.U r too suspicious liao. I fully support this idea. But verification of IMEIs would be good to prevent fake entries.
