i is royally cambodianally pissed off!!!

a not-so-nice incident happened today when i went to get my visa done for the upcoming trip. it's not about the extra money that i would have to pay...what's $5 right...it's about the whole red tape and discrimination shit that i have to face just to get a tourist visa...which may have been very much different if i had used my american passport to apply (going to a country that is still using USD as their main currency).

[popagandhi: actually the extra US$5 is more of a rule rather than the exception. except when you land at the phnom penh or siem reap airport on an international flight. happens at the land borders too. to go to countries like these you just have to be prepared to take whatever is thrown your way.]
[popagandhi: and that's just the tip of the iceberg of "red tape"!]

Well, Cambodia is one of the best friends of China in SE Asia, I would not be surprised if they give a hard time to a Taiwanese passport holder.

could have saved so much trouble if only you search the net abit?

ROTFLOL

preetam rai...thanks...i hope you're wrong, but you're probably right...if you know what i mean...

justlazytoregister...i know that i can get it done at the cambodian side, but to save myself the hassle of bringing around 2 passports, i wanted to get the visa stuff out of the way so that i could concentrate on enjoying my trip instead of worrying about whether they'd accept my passport or not. hence, my trip to the embassy. but now, i guess i'll just have to use my "oh-so-powderful" american passport to gain entry upon reaching phnom penh. and then hopefully i won't have to deal with any more people rolling on the floor laughing out loud. cheers. =)

moby: have you utilised to your oh-so-powerful american passport to enter cambodia? are you sure the reason is the passport and not just you? spare me the perceived western supremacy, please. a lil humility goes a long way, really.

justlazytoregister...please...if you have read properly...i wrote "oh-so-POWDERFUL" american passport...which if you were to perceive it properly, it actually means the exact opposite of what you're implying. and before you go into the whole western supremacy nonsense, i can tell you once and for all that i'm proud to be a taiwanese...so please read your lines properly before you go ROTFLOL.

the irony is lost on us

there's a reason the word "perceived" was there. please read your lines properly before you go ballistic and defensive. no wonder you couldnt get the visa...

Cambodia Visa is easy to get.
