JB Jeyaretnam

Little Speck said:

Out of the blue this week a surfer posted a message in Sammyboy forum that hurt himself more than his intended victim, Mr. J.B Jeyaretnam.

I am posting this for the purpose of reminding Singaporeans the importance of keeping personal venom out of political differences, whether among pro- or anti-government Singaporeans.

neither todays opposition or proposition or what crap have you matters anymore but the ultimate question for every weary soul is....when are the saints come marching in!

JBJ made the foolish mistake of loving his countrymen more than himself and his family paid dearly for it
-
"..if I wanted to be true to my calling as a Christian, I had to do something about all the wrongs in society around me. Margaret was also angry at the injustices. So I said I just have to do it, thats all" JBJ, Feb 2002

he could have been a great man, a great lawyer, but he chose to give it up to fight for what he believed in. sure, he's been made a mockery by the people he chose to fight against, and is, as some say, a shadow of the man he could have become, JBJ is a hero in his own right. A hero like the many before him who followed their heart and loved more than they should.

jbj does not have the capacity to manage singapore because of his lack of economic knowledge, but what does that matter? he mightn't not have gotten far with his party but he took the step forward to fight for something that many of us fear to tread.

so who says he wasn't a great man?

I am sorry but Goh Chok Tong was the CEO of NOL while JBJ was just a small time lawyer. On that account alone, he rules and JBJ sucks. Anyone who doesnt earn more than $600K worth of peanuts per annum shld just keep their mouths shut in prosperous Spore Inc. n just be grateful for the fact that they are not Indons or Ethiopians.

you just proved Devan Nair right
-
"I may be wrong in believing that the point of no return has already
been passed, for currently it does appear that a population rendered
politically comatose over the years will be unable to bestir itself
sufficiently - apart from surreptitiously immobilizing subway trains
by stuffing well-chewed chewing gum into their doors .." Devan Nair

I can't believe you took that comment at face value.

Mr JB Jeyaretnam was a greatman who knew what he was fighting for and did it all the way till he passed away.He had the fighting spirit which we will not be able to see anyone like him for a longtime.I pray that he is in a better place and his soul may rest in peace.
