Changi Airport 5th worst for on-time arrivals

Forbes did a report comparing international airports, and Singapore made it to the charts... albeit for the "wrong" reason.

Worst International Airports For On-Time Arrivals
Changi Airport
5. Singapore Changi International Airport (SIN)
On-Time Arrivals: 68%

Which airport has the best on-time arrivals?

I don't think we'll see this in the Nation Building press.

Oh Singapore Government, thanks for doing a good job brainwashing us that Changi Airport is da' best, Number One and a completely perfect airport of the world.

You do realise that being in the bottom 5 means you get a lot of air traffic as well right? That's why jam? And that's a good thing, I believe?

There are many external factors as well. The airlines around this region are known to be notoriously late as well, not to mention late take-offs, and check out BKK's 4th position. The second most busy airport in SEA is also down there with us...?

Certainly all such studies ought to be taken with a pinch of salt. But I for one am sick of the local media trumpeting surveys that place Changi at the No. 1 spot as if such studies were holy scripture itself, whereas less favourable studies --- like this Forbes report --- never see the light of day. If the media were at least consistent in representing the truthfulness of such reports, it would be somewhat forgivable.

I'd forgotten how tiny Singapore is. You can see both sides of the island in one picture... man.

Not our fault - airlines and the airports from which they departed from were sloppy. Not our fault.

I cringe whenever people quote "our #1 Airport" when they say why they love Singapore. Does that mean they love the country less when Changi loses the #1 spot to other airports from time to time in different magazine surveys ?

Sad, but true. Probably because the aeroplane parking fee at Changi Airport T2 is so expensive most airlines want to spend as little time there as possible.

They are late because they are also waiting for some ERP gantry light to go off too!

I imagine if Forbes decided to do a survey on the quietest or the least conjested airport in the world, we'd rank right at the bottom too!

What a stupid survey. And for those people simpistically take the results of THIS survey as an indicator of how good our airport is, well, don't forget to pick up the brain you left at the door.

Kuala Lumpur is best for on-time arrivals. >_<

Totally Agree.
When you only have one plane landing each day, it is really quite difficult to get them in a delay causing jam

will they sue Forbes or not :)

we're constrained by the number of runways we have. so it's not how many terminal buildings we have, but rather how many runways changi will use for civilian flights.

I wonder if the high rate of tardy arrivals is Changi's fault? Flights from, say, Papua New Guinea of just Indonesia could be late for all sorts of reasons. I really enjoy visiting Singapore, and although I know the government hypes everything and sometimes silences dissent, it seems to me, having just run the gauntlet of LAX and SFO and fought for my seat on United, that Changi is something to be genuinely proud of. In fact, my plan is to move my Asian base down there for a short while when (or should I say if?) the Thai government opens the "Cobra Swamp" airport.

arrival doesnt depend on changi. it mostly depends on the country's airport where the planes depart. if they take off an hour later from turkey for example, how could it arrive on time?! if we just check departures, im sure changi is number one in being on time!
