Trackback from SomethingStickyThisWayComes:

The Straits Times called it a yawn. I’m not sure what they expected. SPG to strip, drag expat at large out onto the stage area and molest him? Xiaxue to rip somebody a new asshole? Who knows....

i thought the convention was not bad for a first time. but yeah, lets have it twice a year or something? maybe we can have one near xmas! and maybe it'll be a much better one, with much more mingling and stuff, not like the first where people tend to be alil' more conscious of themselves, not knowing what to expect.

Posted by grace* on 18 July, 2005 - 3:05pm

Hrmm...i was half-expecting someone else other than me to wear the Bloggers.SG Tshirt out today and parade it proudly like "I was there."

Guess theirs is in the wash.

Trackback from The Singaporean Maldivian:

Double yellow made a post with the top ten excuses reasons you did not attend the Bloggers.SG meet.'’ I shall use all those excuses reasons! Yes! Ok, so I don’t really want to keep my online identity secret, since there are already pictur......

Trackback from brennan style!:

The Sunday Times don't see the big picture. Actually, I really felt that I was part of a big family.

C'mon la... the Singapore media wants sensational news. Think Huang-Na, the chopped-up China girl and the NKF drama....

Trackback from Sassyjan:

Just because quite a no. of the Bloggers shun the limelight & don't want to tok to The Sunday Times journalist, he thinks everyone is anti social.

me heard some Bloggers even pretend not to have a blog when he tried to interview them...

Trackback from Trompe L'oeil:

For being a first in Singapore and also organised by people you can never describe as being paid with peanuts for their efforts, I thought the event was pretty well managed. A little "leave your brains at the door" sort of fun......

Trackback from work smarter:

The Straits Times has an article for yesterday's blogger's convention - 1st bloggers' conference is one big YAWN. First-born and a blood debt required to view full article, but you can probably deduce what the article is about. Bah, I thought it was pretty decent as it was the first convention in Singapore. I think the reporters think everyone should be drinking, shouting and revering the popular bloggers vocally. What was their expectation of the event? That people would write… ...

Hi, anyone care to share that "yawn" article on your blog? Thanks!

Went to Bloggers.sg 2005...

Trackback from Balderdash:

The most amusing (at least to me) line of the day: Are you the guy who wrote "Why People Think My Chemistry Teacher is Gay?" Uhh....

Trackback from [some form of love carves my pain]:

VJC ya, they suck. I never like a JC kiddo much, but they topped the list now. Somehow, the teachers and students all looked like they came out of the same genetic book...

Trackback from My thoughts. Mine.:

I'd have imagined a blogger con held in a convention hall somewhere, people standing on their feet, mingling and holding glasses of champagne ... Shrug, playing party games in groups. Organising themselves by common interest....

Trackback from Utterly Indiscreet:

Actually, the only blogger I really talked to was mrmiyagi who was actually quite a nice guy. When I told him that I am a new blogger ... He said I should just blog about whatever interests me instead. I thought that was good advice....

Sounds like you people had so much fun. -jealous-

Let me know if there are more outings near Christmas 'kay? I'd love to turn up.

Trackback from Tym Blogs Too!:

None of [this], I guess, makes for what passes as a sexy news story these days. It's a good thing we have blogs, so that other voices can be heard, other perspectives shared....

Stupidgenius, I believe mrbrown meant putting haloscan.com in a blogspot.com blog. That's because blogspot doesn't inherently support trackbacks.

So haloscan can take over both comments and trackbacks, or just trackbacks (and you can still use the existing blogger comment system. This requires a little html tweaking with the blog template.)

Trackback from (O_o) nickpan:

What a weird conference, but also what an exciting initiative. This is what the queue look like from the back outside DXO. Did anyone get the Tee? I got one Medium and one Small. The back chat thingy was pretty......

Trackback from Barffie:

Wah. What a long day. I sold tee-shirts at Bloggers.Sg 2005. I wore my SM-looking boots, and I look awfully over-dressed....

Trackback from Raging Snowman:

I missed the Singapore bloggers conference yesterday but I am not really sure I missed much. The Strait Times - as boring as USA Today itself - called it a "yawn". Still, I think there are some amusing blogs...

Trackback from A semi-por-pu-lar brogger:

Take me, for example. I am damn interesting, ok. Just ask all those people who kept giggling when I was talking cock - I am a damn excellent public speaker, can? Either that or my fly was down the entire time and I didn't notice....

Still got a couple of L left! Wait for announcement I guess.

Trackback from Jeff's Blog:

"Bloggers.sg BlogCon: ST Reporters Got Tired And Yawned" Find out why....

mb mentioned something putting trackback on blogger. what is it?

Trackback from the sassy slumbering girl:

Yes, finally, I have some "activity" on a weekend! Met olduvai and dimsumdolly for lunch at esplanade before we headed for DXO for the first-ever Bloggers Conference to be held in Singapore....

Trackback from Beer & Booze & Brain (Slightly Loose):

so i went to the BLOG CON yesterday. arrived at DXO at 6pm, in time to catch a lil bit of the belly dancing ..... met a couple of people ..... went for dinner at marina square ..... headed back to DXO for free flow drinks...

Trackback from I rock, you suck:

I was contemplating whether I should blog a narrative account about my time there, but then, shit, everyone's already had a go at that. So I shall just say that I met like, a ton of people there....

Trackback from Juvenile colloquialism:

Ah, the BlogCon.

DAMN IT! I AM SUPPOSED TO BE THE YOUNGEST BLOGGER THERE? Aren't I?...

Trackback from Double Yellow's Musings:

It sure seems like the Bloggers.SG 2005 convention was a success. The local media called it a “yawn” (The Sunday Times, 17 July 2005, p.4) but I’m sure all of you know whom to believe....

Trackback from blog.vjc.sg:

Being True Blue Singaporeans, we reached there quite early and had to stand outside in a queue before the marshals allowed us in. To spend our time more fruitfully, we had a Mother Goose Storytelling Session...

Trackback from Sarong Party Girl:

And that was what was supposed to be fun about the conference. That we knew all these weird things about the other bloggers, and here we were meeting them face to face....

Trackback from life of the perfect and beautiful isolator:

The interior design of the pub was really all chic and cool. I was greeted by a number of people when we stepped in. And I was glad to get one of the front seats ! horray!...

Trackback from Albert Tanutama:

At 1.30, people started to form a queue to get the T-Shirt and to enter the venue, supervised by two huge DXO bouncers who could easily control any misbehaving crowds. The atmosphere was interesting - a bit retro, casual, and relaxing....

Trackback from The Michigan Experience:

All in all, a big success. Excusing the fact that 200+ people crammed in a small area. . . but I won’t take away the small victories - I did learn some stuff, it was well organised and most importantly, fun....

Trackback from laugh now, but one day we'll be in charge:

This afternoon I went to the first ever Singapore Bloggers Conference 2005 at DXO, a club at Esplanade... We attended the segment on law and blogging, like how you can get into trouble with the law by blogging....
