Bloggers.SG 2005 - Change in Venue and Other Updates
We announced earlier that Bloggers.SG, the Singapore bloggers' conference, would be held at the Woodlands Regional Library. However, we found that we needed more space...
... so a generous sponsor, MSN, managed to get us DXO. For those who haven't heard of DXO: it is a club (formerly Embassy), situated right beside the Esplanade.
Yes, this is the first major blogger convention in the world to be held in a club (we in Singapore sibei kiasu one, must need to HAVE something first).
And no, you didn't hear wrongly - Microsoft. They approached us a couple of weeks ago to see how they can help us with the event and found us DXO. On top of that, they suggested to have a party after the event and willing to sponsor that.
In return, they want us to stop using the Open Source Drupal engine, make the site display properly only on Internet Explorer, put up Microsoft banners on Tomorrow.sg, switch over to MSN search, give them a two hour slot to discuss how cool MSN Spaces is, and have an exclusive Microsoft booth at the event with MSN babes and flyers...
Just kidding :-)
The date and time remain unchanged - Sat, 16 July, 2pm. We will try to start on time (this isn't a Chinese wedding), so we suggest you come around 1.30pm to get a (good) seat and grab a T-shirt before they're sold out. There's no age limit, and both bloggers and non-bloggers are welcome. Heck, we'll even let the press in (how kind of us). Hurhurhur.
Lexmark is loaning us a few of their P6250 printers and free ink and photo paper, so you can print your photos there and then. Imagine, you can take a picture of that cute blogger, print the picture, and ask them to autograph it ("can you write down your phone number as well?"). Ermm... camera not provided hor...
Refreshments are kindly sponsored by SHINE, a youth festival supported by MCYS and NYC.
After the the day's activities, attend the post-event party at the same venue (sorry, no minors for this one. Our bouncers will bounce you into the scenic Singapore river). And if you so wish, after attending the Con, you can partake of the makan at nearby eateries for dinner, or check out Baybeats 2005 (Singapore's Biggest Alternative Music Gathering), happening on that day too.
Or do all of it: Queue up for Harry Potter in the morning, conference at DXO, eat at Glutton's Bay, then Baybeats, then DXO party, then crawl home into bed to read your latest Harry Potter book (if you can stay awake). It doesn't get more happening or fun than this. (Ok, the NDP rehearsal road closures will be a small pain-in-the-behind).
