Wanbao : Chloe Cheng

wanbao-spg.jpgXiaxue complained how Wanbao mixed up her photo with SPG's and proceed to take it apart.

KNN! Siao ah! My photo got mistaken as SPG's! For those who don't understand Chinese, the caption before my photo states that "19-year-old Chloe has been a popular news item recently because of her nude photos on her blog. She seems perturbed as she wrote on her latest blog entry: 'I am tired and tired of this bunch of boh liao things.'"

Makes you wonder if their reporters and editors even do any fact checking...

To be fair, matching the wrong photo with the caption isn't necessarily an issue of fact-checking. A lot of things can happen in the design stage, and sometimes by the time proofs come back it's damn hard to change. So I wouldn't be so quick to blame the reporters.

I think the report has more problems other than the photo mixed up. read XX post.

wah... XX kena tomorrowed!

heh retribution for dissing SPG too much.

sweet sweet retribution. for a narrow minded person who talks without any thought and intelligence whatsoever. kudos to the paper.

Two wrongs don't make a right, my friend.

So why does prison have a punishment component?

In any case, this Wanbao affair has given both XX and the SPG a common enemy - that of misrepresentation from the local press. The XX now sounds less antagonistic towards the SPG and can even empathise to a certain extent. :P

Maybe the two will become friends! :P

I'm not pro XX, but then I think this kinda media blunder can be quite damaging, especially to a lady. It is very easy for the newspaper to publish an apology (which happend to be only "around the height of your middle finger"). But considering this particular newspaper is extremely capable of sensationalising issues, and that it involves the possible questioning of a person's morals, just an apology like that seemed inadequate and not sincere enough.

I've never cared much for S'pore's journalists before, but if incidents like this keep happening (SPG's quotation inaccuracy, the Euthanasia vs Withdrawal of Treatment article)... man.

I thought that was a most horrible incident to happen, especially to a national newspaper. although i'm not exactly a fanatic of xiaxue, i can imagine how she'll feel when the aunties and uncles point at her when she's on the streets and describe her as the one who flashed her titties on the net....

I sympathise with her.

nah won't possibly be ... noticeable size difference, if according to the comment about 30AA vs 32B...

I guess Wanbao can consider itself lucky that Xiaxue doesn't seem to be the sue-happy type. Too bad. A stiff lawsuit may just be the thing to improve their reporting.

I think the newspaper reporter has nothing to write on and no pictures relating to that topic which is the SPG so as to filled up the space she put XiaXue picture into it as that reporter think that they both look the same and also to add in more excitement. If this is like that it is very lame as they "eat finish nothing to do" and so they add all these lame stuff to attract readers and their circulation will be increased and earn big bucks.

What an absolute insult to SPG.

wow this is nonsense, from being a blog superstar and getting mistake for a nudist, this whole blogger thing in newspaper thing is totally ridiculous. and yes i did say being a blog superstar is nonsense.

Wow! It's a good thing Xiaxue doesn't work for a newspaper known for sensationalism.

No wait...

the only way to get back is to thrash that paper.

Since XX so unhappy and make so much noise.... go sue the paper lar!

The defamation bit here is straight forward, the paper printed the wrong picture with the effect of damaging the victim's reputation. No need to twist and turn and look for innuendos - should be sure win one what.

If don't dare to sue.... then abit like all bark no bite, right? Only good for talking fierce online ah?

XX probably won't sue, due to the Xiaxue Doctrine...

think she should sue, or at least let the editors know. SPH got 3 strike rule right.. make 3 mistakes, and u're out.

Trackback from When Yanyan and I disagree with each other...:

Because Yanyan is my friend, my parents bought Wanbao the next day. Guess what? 'Aiyoehah! The apology so small! GUI KAN AH? (ghost see)' Mummy exclaimed. Same responses from my friends and forever KPO cousin....
