Bloggers.SG 2005 - The Agenda and Call for Volunteers

Many of you have been wondering what's going to happen during Bloggers.SG (16th July). Here's some long-awaited information about the program:

Session I. Bloggers and their communities 2.00pm-3.30pm
Is the Singapore blogosphere just about Xiaxue and her loyal blogders? Or mr brown and mr miyagi? Of course not! So this Open Mike session is dedicated to you, for you to introduce yourself and your community within our colourful blogosphere to the rest of us!

Break 3.30pm-4.00pm
Drinks & Refreshment provided by SHINE

Session II. Blogging and the law 4.00pm-5.00pm
Ever wondered whether you'll get sued for your post? Or whether your boss can sack you for blogging? Find out how to blog safely and within the law, without getting invited for tea.

Session III. Blogging-related technologies 5.00pm-6.00pm
RSS, trackback, technorati, and other acronyms or multi-syllabic words that nerds spout - what are they anyway? Learn how these technologies can help you enhance your blogging experience.

Party Time 6.00pm-10.00pm
More information will be provided later. Watch this space!

On a side note, we'll be needing some volunteers (six to ten) to do some tech support, sound recording, video recording, and general miscellaneous stuff. Please contact us if you'd like to help!

Some things I would've liked to see/hear:

  • Blogs and mainstream media
  • Blogging for a global (grober?) audience
  • Blogging 201, or "How to Promote Your Blog" (Blogging 101 is "How to Blog")
  • Why LiveJournal is the Best Blogging Tool Ever™!
(Okay, that last one is optional.)

But I guess time doesn't permit for more topics.

One thing that should be an all-day event: spot the journalist/government official.

Hee hee, yes, there should be a contest to spot the gahmen official.

Interesting topics but who will be giving the talks?

Which part of the 'Open Mike' do you not understand?

That one is fairly obvious. I was not referring to that session.

What is not so obvious is who gets to talk on the other sessions. I don't suppose sessions on blogging and the law and blogging-related technologies are also open mike sessions?

But never mind. Somebody more helpful have answered my question.

For sessions II and III we haven't assembled our crack lineup of panelists yet, sorry.

James, go and stand in the corner and stop being a smartass. :)

(Jems is working on his comedic side, and as you can all see, the timing needs work, haha.)

For Open Mike, we will have some reps from the various communities introduce themselves to everyone, and the floor will also be open to others who want to speak. The idea is to introduce the various communities that make up our diverse blogosphere.

As for the 2nd and 3rd sessions, we do have the crack lineup of panelists in mind already, we just need to finalize and confirm their involvement.

Thanks for the interest!

yes mb, james needs to stand in a corner and shut up. He either reads others msg wrongly or says the wrong thing and piss everyone off, including me. the last thing he should do is try to be funny, it never works.

waliao. :p even wifey say me lidat

You mean he is chronically timing-impaired? :) Hehehe

The secret to avoid being misunderstood when being a wiseass... always end with a smiley or a hehehehe

Coder cannot be comedian. Always end up saying those things that computers like to hear, but make humans angry. Haha!

thats why i prefer to deal with computer than human. :p

further to what agagooga mentioned, it doesn't mean we don't have the people, but you know, must ensure that they are confirm, confirm can do the job cos we only want the best for you guys!

Too funny... James, must understand that 'open mike' is a relatively bizarre/unknown concept around these places. Used to be must apply for permission, stand in the hot sun... now can do the same in air con place for a few hours with loudspeakers some more? No wonder people don't understand... hahaa

Eh... I got question about party time... how about all our younger bloggers who are not 18 yet. Is this going to be a clean, non-alcholic party (the kind where my charm is my only weapon)? Or is it going to be a debauched (keep you shirt on mrbrown), wild (ditto mr miyagi), depraved (you can take yours off sandra) mass orgy (celly shirt off)?

Hee hee...I think i will play spot the wabbit. =)

Would be interesting to see who takes the open mike at the event...... Any lessar bloggers out there willing to take a number?

heh heh... maybe if we rename it to 'karaoke open mic' then people will be more forthcoming?

I for one will not be opening any mikes. People might actually listen to my inane babble.

talking about permit, must you guys apply for a permit to organise this? don't want it to get shut down halfway.

I don't mind doing Karaoke. MUAHAHAHA

barfie dear... 7th month getai not here yet leh...

How about throwing in a foam party as well? n_n We can start with some bubble bath and the water hose from the third floor of the Woodlands library. >-D

Anyway... will be there... just in case you need to do a headcount. =P
