But some pornography can be art, like the Nude Paintings, Eyes Wide Shut or Lolita, depending of your intepretation of "art". One has to decide whether there is any artistic merit in it.

If the editors, SPG, Blogger, etc decided there is merit in it and actually wrote something great to convince people that this is 'art' That's great. However there isn't any incentive to for anyone saying anything more than "Its Perky!" or "Its tastefully done". "The light as good!"

You ask me if I had took art class, no. But I know a person can make a piece of sandwich into 'art' if he tries hard enough.

Firstly, the emphasis is on the post itself. No where in the statement did the blogger said it is an art, in fact it has sexual overtones to it indicating a form of sexual reading into the photo. Clearly the blogger did not state that he think it is art.

SPG wrote it in her blog saying

Nevermind it wasn't taken by a professional photographer. Never in her post did she write that her picture is an art priece.

SPG blog is an excellent blog with read candid and frank thoughts, yes it is a porno blog but her writings have lots of merits to it with lots of excellent prose. Too bad that people decided to overrate THAT picture into 'art'

This was going to be long but I think it's better for me to write in point form.

1. This is both art and porn, but it is more porn than art. Just because it is art it doesn't make it less porn. Let's not obsfucate the issues here. We are talking about porn, not art.

2. The intent of SPG is clearly more porn than art. She put it there to show that she's "got it".

3. This is not really a worthy and meaningful topic. Shianux, you could have talked about 3rd world debt, the siblings in a miserable run down HDB flat, the civil war in the Congo, the proliferation of AIDS, but here we are talking about an overprivileged bourgeousie counter- revolutionary brat, displaying her (admittedly) well-endowed body. What gives?

4. There is nothing wrong with porn (that is this mild). You have the right to put up porn, but you don't have to do it. Similarly you have the right to chop off your own dick too, but you don't have to do it.

5. There are naked bodies everywhere, and this does not in any way herald a "nude, sorry, new age in blogging". ST is sensationalising this because its intrinsic nature is to be a media whore and not because there is anything about it we really have to hate.

Another thing to consider is that SPG was the subject of the photo, not the artist. What her motives were in posing don't really matter to the argument of whether the picture is art. For that, you'd have to ask the photographer.
